Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. Managers of people, Electrical, Mechanical & CAD engineers within the function. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.

  • Responsible for basic and detailed design functions based out of India

  • Manage the Engineering team including development needs and resource planning

  • Plan / develop technical and management processes to improve both team and customer productivity

  • Experience in design and development of large rotating machines, particularly Motors and Generators

  • Able to study customer RFQ and provide technical solution.

  • Provide engineering support during service order processing like alignment and vibration etc.

  • Understand various standards relevant to design of motor/generator as per NEMA/API/IEC ABS/ANSI/CSA/DIN/DNV/Lloyds/Ex standards.

  • Provide support to internal and external customers in support of sales initiatives.

  • Collaborate across the business including, Spares and Repairs, Engineering, Sourcing, Order Management and Global Field Sales teams.

  • Responsible for Involvement with requirements specification and interface with cross-functional departments to complete tasks

  • Improve areas of project execution and department management through Six Sigma methodology

Qualification/ Requirements

  • Masters/ Bachelors/Diploma Degree from accredited college / university in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 12 – 25 years of relevant experience

  • Experience in design of rotating machines.

  • Knowledge of Motors and Generator design calculations

  • Ability to review engineering drawing and approve for production.

  • Ability to read and write technical specifications.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.

  • Knowledge on Industrial Drive systems, PLC Systems, Switchgears

  • Knowledge on addressing alignment, vibration, and temperature issues

  • Experience in using Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to design, sell and implement process improvements.

  • Cross functional, ability to work on matrix environment, and international team experience.

  • Effectively communicate across all organizational levels, departments, and functions.
