General Electric Lead Engineer - Controls Engineering in Chennai, India

Job Description Summary

The Lead Controls Engineer works as part of the product engineering team in a global environment and will be responsible for development, implementation, and validation of the communication and control components of GE’s FLEXRESERVOIR and FLEXINVERTER products. This includes but is not limited to AC system, DC system, Battery management systems, HVAC, Fire suppression, and interfaces to higher level control systems.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and validation of all Hybrid Control Systems

  • Be involved in all phases of software & controls development from product definition to production release

  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements back to the product

  • Participate actively in design, code reviews, testing and software valuation

  • Work in a team to design, develop, and deploy the control hardware configuration for each product/project with the main responsibility to choose the right HW and design the communication network, including but not limited to DI/DO, Ethernet, FO etc.

  • Support problem identification and resolution of new and installed products

  • Track overall status of projects, deliverables, cut-ins, and goals of the control team

  • Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity

  • Develop, improve and administrate customer overview and operational training material for the control systems.

  • Work across engineering and service organization to prepare documentation for installation, commissioning and operations for use by internal GE employees and our customers

  • Be an expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks

  • Follow up with timely and accurate Product Documentation

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Control Systems or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience developing software & controls using high-level software languages

  • Relevant Industry Experience with large scale power converters, solar or energy storage systems

  • Ability to read and fully understand electrical diagrams, BOMs, datasheets, control (flow) diagrams

  • General experience in C(++), PLCs, SPS/FUP or similar – familiar with controls theory in general

  • Fluent in English language
