Based at GE Power Conversion Chennai site the Lead FEA Engineer’s role is an exciting opportunity for an action-oriented individual to provide detailed design expertise for high power, large motors and generators. A. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Lead Finet Element Analysis Engineer develops practical and innovative ways to identify and meet business goals. In this role you are responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Experience in design and development of large rotating machines.
Execution of the Finite Element Analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and analysis tools/methods adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering analysis for Rotating Machine products.
Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews
Should network & establish strong connections with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs, Cross functions teams to achieve the desired outcomes)
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
Participate in engineering practices and business improvements initiatives within the group in cooperation with the management team
Identify opportunities for development, cost down, VAVE, and IP generation.
Support New Product Introduction (NPI) & Advanced Manufacturing Engineering.
Understand various standards relevant to design of motor/generator as per NEMA/API/IEC ABS/ANSI/CSA/DIN/DNV/Lloyds/Ex standards.
Required Qualifications
Masters/ Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college / university in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
5 – 8 years of relevant experience
Experience in design of rotating machines.
Expertise in FEA, Rotor Dynamics.
In-depth understanding of Strength of Materials, Machine Design & Mechanical Vibrations.
Expertise in using ANSYS Workbench
Experience in using CREO, TeamCenter & Pack office
Ability and willingness to travel as required.
Desired Characteristics
Design of large Electrical rotating machines such as Induction, Synchronous DFIG, PMG machines.
Familiarization with modelling and finite element analysis tools like CREO, ANSYS
Experience in using Six Sigma tools for continuous improvement.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to design, sell and implement process improvements.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Proactive self-starter and change agent & ability to work under stress environment.
Cross functional, ability to work on matrix environment, and international team experience.
Effectively communicate across all organizational levels, departments, and functions.
Demonstrated technical aptitude and business acumen.
