Job Description Summary

Lead the Aviation Systems UK sourcing organization inclusive of Dowty Propellers and Cheltenham Avionics & Power. Responsible for the developing and executing the multi-business sourcing strategy necessary to meet the key business metrics. Develop a strong working relationship with the Supply Chain site leaders, engineering and programs and most importantly the UK sourcing organization. Additionally, this person will find opportunities to share resources and best practices between the two business. Lastly, utilizes understanding of industry trends to inform decision making process and products

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

•Leading the UK Sourcing Organization with a focus on people & culture: developing a culture where people development is a focus, ensuring Sourcing is seen as an attractive internal career progression opportunity and focusing on the talent pipeline.

•Overall accountability for PPV, OTD and days to pay performance metrics.

•Developing a collaborative relationship with the Dowty and Cheltenham site leaders, to ensure the UK Sourcing organization understands and delivers.

•Engages in a collaborative relationship with and influences other key stakeholders.

•Define and improve Sourcing strategies at business or plant level. May also include management of regional & business teams.

•Developing expertise within function. Growing reputation within the organization. Includes roles that are experts in their discipline, providing professional or thought leadership. Influences policy and ensures delivery within own function, linking with other functions of the organization.

•May lead functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Presents business solutions to leaders in functional area. Communicates complex messages and negotiates mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influences peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers.

•Has major influence on small business unit, a segment within a larger business unit, a family within a Function or a P&L business segment and has ownership/influence over budgets. The role is guided by functional policy. The role influences policy/operating guidelines about important subjects.

•Leads others to find creative solutions to address complex problems that may impact the organization. Has the ability to evaluate quality of information received and questions conflicting data for analysis. Uses multiple internal and external resources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.

•Utilizing Lean Daily Management techniques and embedding Standard Work, enable the Sourcing team to solve day-to-day operational issues to reach short- and long-term performance goals.

•Champion the business NPI Tollgate process ensuring Sourcing alignment with respect to new technologies, supply-base requirements, demand needs, timing, etc.

Required Qualifications

•This role requires demonstrated leadership skills with a strong emphasis on team building. A strong understanding of Supply Chain processes and demonstrated ability to effectively work across a matrix organization. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
