Job Description Summary

In this role you will act as the design authority for assigned products utilising experience/expertise to resolve technical queries, As the Lead Sustainment Engineer you are responsible for providing engineering support to the supply chain across a range of products. The Sustainment Engineering team provide through-life design authority and technical support for Production and in-service products. You will promote a culture of design authority across the organization, which emphasizes shared responsibility in maintaining the original design intent, establishing yourself as an electrical & electronic design subject matter expert (SME) for the group, responsible for the sign-off of electrical & electronic documentation & design data.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned products using engineering principles and adhering to business standards in line with program & customer requirements

  • Provide technical leadership to relevant stakeholders around the business

  • Monitor product heath in terms of failure reviews, obsolescence, improvement opportunities and lead proactive design changes

  • Provide engineering disposition and approval for production line issues

  • Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Support supplier development initiatives to drive down material shortages and improve yield through reducing defects. Align supplier capability and design requirements.

  • Perform a signatory role within the department for design releases to customer and regulatory requirements

  • Support mentoring and coaching of others within the department

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a relevant level of experience

Desired Characteristics

  • Significant experience in electrical & electronic engineering and a production orientated environment

  • Demonstrated experience of performing a signatory role for release of electrical & electronic documentation & design data within highly regulated industries or the ability to achieve this in an agreed timescale

  • Ability to apply design signatory with pragmatism and gain buy-in from key stakeholders across the business

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems efficiently using multiple business stakeholders

  • Ability to plan and execute projects

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Experience with or interest in mentoring and coaching internal team members
