Job Description Summary

The Lead Software Engineer joins a cross-functional team designing tool implementations for a full lifecycle Product Lifecycle Management tool suite around our global engineering processes. The team focuses on compliant implementations that enable process and analysis automation to reduce the burden of our regulatory constrained environment.

Job Description

The Lead Software Engineer develops integrations and enhancements for the Aviation System PLM and Electronic Design tool suites. In this role you will leverage your experience and/or expertise to develop efficient methods and integrations to compliantly manage and share product development artifacts. The integrations and enhancements will automate steps required to manage the artifacts across multiple electronic systems thus reducing the manual effort required to manage and collaborate on product artifacts across various tool suites in compliance to federal regulations and GE Aviation processes. These enhancements will affect short-term and some long-term business goals of programs across GE Aviation.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as a leader on specific tasks that require a broad experience base

  • Impact most programs across Aviation Systems

  • Interface with external organizations and supporting functions to implement and integrate tool suites across the organization

  • Collaborate with management in setting realistic and challenging goals / targets

  • Periodically prepare and implement Lean actions to improve engineering efficiency

  • Mentor other individual contributors to improve performance through knowledge sharing and training

Skills and experience:

  • Strong experience in Systems or Software development processes

Desired Characteristics

  • Working knowledge of PTC Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Tool suite (Windchill)

  • Working knowledge of Mentor Graphics Electronic Design Management (EDM) Tool suite

  • Working knowledge of Electronic Design procurement packages

  • Software scripting and programming experience

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Demonstrated success in a cross-functional team environment

  • Full life cycle development experience

  • Knowledge of GE Aviation products and product lines

  • Experience developing products using Agile methodologies

  • Experience developing and leading system test strategies
