Job Description Summary
This role is to support the site in the general area of materials. This will include support for the replacement of existing materials due to obsolescence, direction and advice in the use of materials in new and existing applications, representing the company to customers and maintenance of company material standards,
The ideal candidate will be able to work with a minimum of supervision, have a proven ability to support interactions between programs, customers, trade associations, institutions and development programs with the ability to take a leading role.
Identification and replacement of existing materials due to obsolescence
for direction and advice in the use of materials in new and existing applications
to represent the company in materials issues to customers
to maintain internal material standard documents
to be aware of new manufacturing techniques and their applicability to site processes
in liaison with EHS, to insure continued site compliance to REACh legislation.
to liaise with other GE sites to ensure a common response to potential internal changes and external requested activity.
to represent the business in various UK and EU trade associations.
to participate in UKGov and EU part financed consortia in connection with academic institutions.
