Job Description Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Lead Program Specialist to lead & support a current NPI program, with specific duties associated with ownership of Design to Cost (DTC), and leading the effective transition from product design into manufacturing for both engineering development and future production requirements. This is an exciting opportunity to build upon the solid foundation established by the project, and provide leadership and co-ordination that ensures a successful transition into the manufacture of the Electrical Power Distribution System. This role sits within the UK Power Distribution and Controls business.

The Power Distribution and Controls business has several Business Portfolios that enable the organization to focus on customers and, or market segments. The Business Jet Portfolio encompasses Power Distribution and Controls products for the Business Jet market, supporting several global customers.

Job Description

  • Accountable for the leadership of the Design to Cost (DTC) and manufacturing transition of the assigned project, reporting to the Business Jet Portfolio Leader.

  • Lead DTC activities ensuring co-ordination between Engineering, Sourcing and Supply Chain. Including setting objectives, prioritization of project, managing schedule and Risk and Opportunity management.

  • Regular status reporting of DTC to the Touchstone Program and Cheltenham Senior Leadership Team.

  • Work across the extended team to support readiness for manufacture, supply chain resilience and aftermarket services. Remove barriers to execution.

  • Establishes and maintains regular customer reporting rhythms for product deliveries.

  • Leads cross functional (matrix wide) team to define the sequence of activities necessary to deliver the scope of work within time and resource constraints; manages critical path and realigns priorities to balance stakeholders’ requirements. Communicates scope flow-down to the functional stakeholders.

  • Drives effective and efficient communication to the stakeholders. Builds relationships both internally and externally and integrates the voice of the customer into program/project activities.

  • Works effectively across the matrix to prioritise, monitor, align and report relevant metrics – such as S&OP, production scheduling, delivery forecasting, demand management, order-book management, revenue and margin debt collection & cashflow, quality, service cost, repair turnaround time etc.

  • Understands the business case and cost baseline to establish budget constraints, drives actions to achieve program deliverables and business & financial targets throughout the program lifecycle which include recurring product cost & non-recurring development costs.

  • Understands the relevant terms of the contract and assists in the translation of the contractual requirements to define the scope, performance baseline and associated metrics for assigned project(s).

  • Communicates and proactively drives team behaviours, utilizing cost performance data and business objectives. Uses experience to challenge cost elements, basis of estimate, and strategic approach.

  • Effectively escalates issues that affect program deliverables and drives resolutions cross-functionally in a timely fashion.

  • Ensures appropriate business system inputs are maintained with accurate information at all times
