General Electric Aviation ALM Customer Support Engineer in Cheltenham, United Kingdom

Job Description Summary

The Aviation ALM Support Engineer provides guidance, training, and solutions to resolve customer issues. This allows customers to efficiently and compliantly use Aviation ALM to development and manage their Aviation product development. In this role, the successful candidate will learn, enhance, and apply GE Aviation product development processes and tools to improve initial quality of our products. The Support Engineer role looks across GE Aviation to break organisational silos and share best practices across the Aviation ALM user community.

Job Description


  • Support usage of the Aviation ALM systems via training, best practice sharing, and problem solving

  • Train teams on proper usage of the tool suite while maintaining and enhancing the training material to incorporate best practices from across the business

  • Resolve customer issues and manage a backlog of issues that require development team engagement

  • Responsible for GE Aviation Systems UK and European based customer support

Required characteristics are:

  • Software or Systems development experience

  • Requirements and configuration management experience

  • Ability to provide 1-1 and small group tuition

  • Knowledge of the product development lifecycle

  • Awareness of change and source control management

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Desired characteristics are:

  • Experience of end user application support

  • Proficiency with Rational Team Concert / Engineering Workflow Management

  • Proficiency with DOORS

  • Proficiency with DOORS Next Gen

  • Proficiency with Rational Quality Concert / Engineering Test Management

  • Familiarity with Eclipse

  • Familiarity with Jenkins and / or continuous integration
