General Electric EHS leader H/F in Charleroi, Belgium

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Active daily presence in the workshop to ensure workers safety and EHS compliance.

  • Collection, analysis, correction plan implementation and reporting of all concerns, first aids and possible accident.

  • Development and implementation with the workshop managers and sourcing of prevention actions and work permits to ensure all employees and contractors safety.

  • Develop and implement EHS strategy to lead the Charleroi site to world class EHS performance.

  • Create EHS programs, responsive to the external environment; participate in cross-functional business and cultural development.

  • Provide leadership, support and technical guidance to the Charleroi leadership team, to assure programs are developed and effectively implemented providing safe and healthy working environments for employees across the region, and to protect the environment from the adverse effects of environmental contaminates and hazardous wastes.

  • Develop, implement, and support Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programs throughout Charleroi Site.

  • Improve existing EHS programs to align with GE programs and initiatives, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

  • Understand regulatory changes and trends for implementation and forecast of business impacts.

  • Actively contribute to the direction and content of GE’s Corporate EHS programs.

  • Team with GE-CEP to share Best Practices from GE Corporate and other GE Businesses to improve the EHS performance of the Region.

  • Ensure that the EHS Culture is adopted by all employees on site.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related EHS field or the same knowledge/experience.

  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge

  • Strong EHS experience, at least significant in a senior leadership position, with exposure to several EHS areas in a manufacturing environment and possibly project and services

  • Formal H&S or Environmental qualification

  • Electrical Safety expertise

  • Holding degree in « Prevention Advisor niveau 1 » or the same knowledge/experience is a plus

  • Must be fluent in English and French, any additional languages are a plus

  • Must have strong influential skills
