Job Description Summary

The Manufacturing Shop Operations Manager will demonstrate leadership in managing operations of business processes for an area or business segment within a production facility. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and team, and effect short and some long-term business goals while managing the daily manufacturing operations to ensure reliability and consistency in production.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage an operation, business, unit, or part of a production facility in order to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery and safety.

  • Ensure continuous business improvement according to benchmarks and standards.

  • Provide process method excellence throughout the organization

  • Lead own team to achieving goals in asset utilization, process / manufacturing loss improvement, quality, and cost reduction

  • Communicate key business or customer issues across direct organization and across the function in area of expertise

  • Drive the continuous improvement of manufacturing operations culture

  • Responsible for meeting all established people, quality, cost, delivery, and safety commitments

  • Ensure team is aware of and in compliance with all GE government, customer and applicable policies, procedures, rules and regulations

  • Pursue state of the art technology and processes to enhance product / process producibility

  • Interface with other organizations and vendors to assure requirements are met on time

  • Develop necessary business plans to enhance all program requirements, including throughput, labor hours, cycle, cost producibility, and image

  • Direct organization and staff position optimally to accomplish business objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Applied Science and/or Engineering degree from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain experience in manufacturing organizations including at least 3 years of experience as a People Leader in Manufacturing Operations

Desired Characteristics

  • At least 5 years experience with Steam Turbine / Generator maintenance

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certified

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Ability to influence others and lead large teams

  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Proven analytical and organizational ability

  • Ability to work independently

  • Knowledge of the disciplines of manufacturing management such as production and inventory control, and standard cost systems
