General Electric Manager, Accounting Operations - R2R in Budapest, Hungary

Role Summary:The role assumes primary responsibility of managing GE Healthcare Commercial R2R subteam of 5-10 colleague by providing people management, functional leadership and guidance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Organize and ensure timely and accurate general accounting activities (under US GAAP) on behalf of local GE Healthcare entities covered

  • Ensure appropriate people management & development strategy including

  • Development of dedicated team members (regular performance review and feedback)

  • Build a reliable organizational structure, succession and back-up plan

  • Represents corporate goals to the team also feeding back all “help needed” to higher management

  • Identify Business Critical Positions in the Team

  • Support the R2R manager in professional matters

  • Operate as primary escalation contact for issues in connection with the dedicated Team

  • Understand GE Policies and ensure that all accounting processes are in line with GE regulations and principles, and confidentiality is respected in data handling when working with personal data and/or sensitive data

  • Coordinate and Support External and Internal audits for the area assigned

  • Ensures all balance sheet account reconciliation, open items are accurately closed

  • Initiate simplification projects, and present solutions to stakeholders for issues raised by the Team or Higher Management

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of activities required for quarter-end and month-end closing (performing accounting, perform and review balance sheet reconciliations) according to the business deadlines

  • Responsible for the timely and high-quality preparation of Balance Sheet Review (BS review) and Financial Reporting Package (FRP) review on Commercial Area

  • Coordinate the monthly and quarterly balance sheet review and variance analysis

  • Defines KPI to measure the performance of the Team and to identify improvement areas

  • Besides main tasks and responsibilities listed above, responsible for completing any other tasks assigned by her/his supervisor or manager


  • Written and verbal fluency in English

  • Strong Accounting experience (in a multi-GAAP environment is preferred)

  • Experience of closing the books, ideally in an international environment

  • Experience in people management or position with support function is an advantage

  • Strong understanding of the composition of financial statements (Cash Flow, Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet) and key financial metrics

  • Ability to learn/ understand Standard & Processes quickly and adhere to them accurately

  • Ability to deal with complex accounting questions

  • Has technical and soft skills required to operate as supervisor

  • Ability to manage 5 - 10 people groups

  • Flexible approach with a strong team spirit

  • Effective interpersonal & communication skills and highly professional style

  • Comfortable delivering against quantitative and qualitative performance metrics

  • Compliance & controllership mindset

  • Numerate with a good eye for detail

  • Proficient IT skills including Excel

  • First-hand closing experience with Oracle, SAP or another ERP is an advantage
