General Electric Lead Financial Accounting Controller (Fixed term contract) in Budapest, Hungary

In this role you will be responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, manage the wing-to-wing accounting and closing processes to deliver accurate USGAAP and Statutory financial reporting and analysis for our French entities. This role will be issued with a fixed-term contract lasting 6 to 9 months.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

The role represents ownership of the end-to-end Statutory accounting, closing and reporting processes of Hydro Solutions French entities

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of activities required for the quarter-end and month-end closing according to the business deadlines. Prepare and review monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.

  • Ensure timely and accurate statutory regulatory filing completion in accordance with the local regulatory requirements including branches, holding entities and consolidations

  • Build strong partnership with stakeholders across functions

  • Coordinate relationship with authorities, internal and external auditors of our French Hydro Solutions entities, ensure requests are timely provided, queries are resolved

  • Support various R2R related projects upon need (e. g. simplifications, system changes, new policies implementation, migrations)

  • Ensures controllership & compliance within local and GE GAP requirements

  • Ensure that internal controls and check points are in place and are followed

  • Supporting less experienced colleagues in order to develop skills to bring them to consensus. Prepare materials and provide training on technical accounting and other areas where knowledge/ gaps of the team are identified

  • Support the statutory closing providing details for preparation of statutory accounts for the respective GE Business

  • Manage annual reporting (local financial statements) of a portfolio of 3-5 GE legal entities in Europe

  • Set up, reconcile and maintain US GAAP to local GAAP adjustments

  • Primary point-of-contact for queries relating to the local regulatory timelines, process steps, status updates in terms of annual reporting (local financial statements) preparation and audit

  • Lead and coordinate annual reporting planning and audit with all related internal (R2R, AP, Treasury) and external (Auditors, TAX) stakeholders

  • Manage legal organization structure changes including Mergers, Acquisitions and Dispositions in occasion and various accounting and finance projects related to system simplification

Requirements Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in statutory accouting is a must

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance or economics

  • Fluent English skills, French is a plus

  • Advanced computer skills: ERP (preferably SAP), Microsoft Excel

  • Strong analytical skills, being able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, apply judgment in complex matters

  • Ability to find any potential risks and initiate improvements

  • Clear thinking and problem solving attitude

  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, team-player attitude

  • People management experience is an advantage

  • Excellent communication – proven ability to develop strong professional relationship with internal stakeholders and auditors

  • Knowledge of French statutory accounting rules and French chartered accounting degree is a plus

  • ACCA/DipIFR/Chartered Accountant certificate is a plus

  • Successfully led projects/process improvements within operations/finance functions
