Job Description Summary
The Managed Services team delivers customer success through the daily management and operations for GE software solutions. GE delivers value to customers across utilities and telecoms by delivering business outcomes underpinned by the Asset Management core products and applications.
The Managed Services Engineer cultivates relationships with a portfolio of customers in both pre-sales and project delivery and daily operational phases and provides objective advice and assistance on the strategy, structure, management and operations of a customer organization, in support of identified business purposes and objectives.
We currently have a Managed Services engineer position available in GE Digital Managed Services team, providing high-tech, software solutions to the Utility and Telecommunications industries. The Managed Services team works closely with Customers, Business Partners and Distributors throughout the world delivering effective support services on the full Geospatial, Smallworld product suite and Mobile solutions.
Based at our Romanian facility in Bucharest, reporting into the Support organization and working closely with the Support Subject Matter Experts and Engineering functions as well as other delivery centers for process continuity to ensure we continue to build good working relationships and deliver a quality service.
Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering or other degree with relevant experience or equivalent level of experience (can be flexible) and /or 3-5 years’ experience working within an IT Support environment.
Proven track record of problem analysis, identification and resolution
Direct customer facing experience
Flexibility to travel to customer site when required
Software development background would be considered plus;
Fluent English speaker
Familiar with and understand the Asset Management suite of telecommunications products, such as Smallworld GIS, Electric Office, Gas Distribution Office, Global Transmission Office, Physical Network Inventory, Logical Network Inventory, Network Inventory Gateway, GeoSpatial Analysis, and Mobile Enterprise solutions
Knowledge on Smallworld database administration
Knowledge on interacting with Magik programming language (troubleshooting activities using Magik scripts)
Knowledge on Java
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus.
Team player, willingness to work as part of a team.
Willingness to learn new technologies – steep initial learning curve.
Meeting targets, ability to work to tight deadlines and adapt to moving priorities.
Experience of the electricity, telecoms and other utility domains

Proven competence and specialization to troubleshoot issues in at least 2 of the following domains:
Cloud technologies (AWS and/or Azure)
Linux Operating Systems.
Oracle, SQL or equivalent databases.
Networking and Firewalls.
Familiar with monitoring tools and technologies (SNMP, Elastic etc)
Proven basic level of competence with Microsoft Operating Systems and the other non-specialized domains listed above.
