Job Description Summary
OCRobotics is based in Bristol, UK. This is a great opportunity to work within a small multi-disciplinary engineering team working across sectors ranging from Aerospace, Oil and Gas and construction.
The role will include activities contributing to the design and development of innovative products, solutions and systems. This includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components as well as delivery of new systems to the marketplace. The role will also include the Technical leadership of one or more projects with direct day to day leadership of team of cross discipline engineers. The successful candidate should have deep technical understanding in areas of product development and delivery that can, alongside support from peers and other senior engineers contribute to the development of procedures and practices to support the work of the wider engineering team to ensure end products meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work requires proven mechanical engineering skills and a wider appreciation of software and/or electrical engineering
Includes direct people management responsibility including mentoring and day-to-day supervision and supporting wider business with resourcing and schedule budgeting.
Utilizes in-depth engineering knowledge, analytical thinking and technical experience to deliver innovative products in a challenging environment
Has knowledge of best practices on how to deliver robust products and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Willingness to challenge the normal way of doing things and has proven ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to develop innovative solutions to real work problems.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to use multiple internal and external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Supporting head of department with coaching and mentoring of more junior team members.
Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Good degree in a rigorous mechanical engineering subject or CEng IMechE.
Good experience of mechanical design
Experience of design for manufacture
Excellent problem solving skills
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
