Job Description

Robotics is a small team of 30 (a mixture of Mechanical, software and electronics engineers and operational employee) based in Filton, Bristol, UK. This is a great opportunity to work within a small multi-disciplinary engineering team working across sectors ranging from Aerospace, Oil and Gas and Construction.

This role involves leading the design and development of electronics in critical projects, producing detailed PCB design and documentation, prototype design and validation of performance goals. You will work on existing project as well and research and development of new products and technologies. As a member of the Robotics team, you will be based in Filton, Bristol, England, you will work with a multi-disciplinary global project teams to develop and deliver the electronics for new products.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead design and development of electronics in critical projects

  • Produce detailed PCB designs and documentation, prototype designs and validate performance goals

  • Research and develop new product options and technologies

  • Present and participate in design reviews, risk analysis and failure mode investigations

  • Design, build and maintain power and control system for industrial robotics

  • Fabricate test Jigs for new hardware and write commissioning scripts

  • Provide mentorship to other engineers in the team

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Good degree (or equivalent level) in a rigorous engineering, scientific, or mathematical subject

  • High level of mathematic ability

  • Proven experience of delivering product solutions designed for manufacture

  • Proven ability to provide ‘best in class’ technical solutions to complex technical problems

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Excellent diagnostic skills of complex electro-mechanical systems

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Excellent team leading abilities

Desirable Characteristics

  • Positive, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and able to apply a high level of initiative

  • Experience of working in a high-tech engineering company

  • Good organization skills, able to prioritize under pressure and work to tight deadlines

  • Experience in:

  • PCB design, testing and diagnosis

  • Control theory and gain setting

  • Good programming for embedded systems, particularly in C and C+GE supports and encourages flexible working arrangements, where possible, and recognizes the benefits to employees of having a positive work-life balance.
