Job Description Summary
The On Site Service Specialist will be responsible for all resources, logistics, personal and safety required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. The activities contribute to; maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products (AIS, GIS, CB, DSC), including all types of maintenance service, manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering.
Roles and Responsibilities
All on site life extensions, repairs and inspection-related service activities able to be performed at customer site.
Major contribution to the development of an operational yearly plan for own department activities of the team.
Suggests improvements in products, processes and procedures
Works together with people from the business unit
Contacts are under guidance and/or geared towards specifying activities, planning of activities and giving explanations on technical issues
Work within a team to Targeted clients
Works based on predefined contracts and frameworks, some latitude to deviate from those conditions Aids higher level technicians
Performs installation on High Voltage GE products (Transformers, GCB, CB’s, AIS, GIS) and performs factory required testing for field commissioning (SAT)
Perform assembly and installation of other GE and GE legacy products with the indirect or direct supervision of senior Field Service Technicians
Performs low, medium and high-level maintenance and repairs on products purchased from GE or under legacy company brands Informs and advises customers about proper care of products, product evolution, part modifications, and warnings.
Performs customer level maintenance training on GE HV products. (Product competency required)
Answers customer inquiries over the phone when feasible
Responds quickly to customer inquiries to keep response time to a minimum.
Keeps abreast of current developments in the company and its products, such as changes or improvements in design, production, or shipping procedures as well as new product developments in order to provide customers the highest quality of service.
Records activities of work performed in the field, parts shipped, or technical assistance that is provided over the phone using Field Services forms and documents
Maintains corporate image in all situations.
Continues training to expand knowledge of GE HV products and GE legacy products
Daily project updates to the Field manager and GE project manager. (DSR)
Onsite management of all budget assumptions.
Notified Project manager on any deviation from budget.
Supervises substation personnel and construction crews in the installation of the organization's products and equipment.
When applicable, supervise and instruct subordinate Field Services Technicians as site project lead technician
Associate's Degree (A.A.) in Electrical Maintenance or a related field from a two-year college or technical school; and three to five years related experience in providing customer service, maintaining and repairing electromechanical products; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret English documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering documents so as to be able to service products according to specifications.
Ability to write in English routine reports and correspondence to record daily service activities.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization in providing service and training.
Be able to pass a medical examination and perform sometimes physically demanding tasks.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to work independently.
Strong problem solving skills.
