General Electric Low pressure turbine casing - Lead Design Engineer in Brindisi, Italy

Job Description Summary

Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Low pressure turbines (LPT).

In this spirit, we are looking for a Design Engineer, expected to cover the role of hardware owner for the LPT casings of an important Program, thus representing the focal point for all the relevant design activities within the Services Engineering organization, with particular focus to design modifications, new engine missions, technical design substantiations for new repair activities, investigations and customer support, through a deep collaboration with CAD and FEM specialists within the commodity and with the other Team functions.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

In this role you will act as Hardware owner for LPT casings; your essential responsibilities will be the following:

  • build technical knowledge expertise in LPT casings design, including interactions with other components at LPT module and engine levels;

  • proactively support and coordinate design activities related to fielded products performance and investigations

  • proactively support and coordinate activities within the commodity and with other Company departments and Suppliers to implement product modifications, with focus to cost, performance and life

  • use of design tools: CAD as Unigraphics NX and FEM CAE as Ansys and in-house SW’s

  • issue technical documents (ie drawings, reports, specifications)

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (mechanical or aeronautical preferred) or High School Diploma in related field with solid and proven experience in similar roles

  • English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral

  • PC proficiency

  • Experience with FEM tools (preferred Ansys)

  • Experience in mechanical design

  • Work Visa, according to local regulation, is required

Desired Characteristics

  • Basic experience with CAD tools (preferred Unigraphics)

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in team and to interact with different stakeholders
