General Electric VP - Engineering CTO & Cyber Security in Bothell, Washington

Job Description Summary

Our new VP – Engineering CTO & Cyber Security will report to the Senior VP of Engineering for GE Digital and will develop end-to-end systems design for GE Digital’s market-leading IIOT product suite – including cloud (public/private), open-source, and targeting deployment and operations as both SaaS and on-premises product offerings. This hire will transform the technical foundation of the entire GE Digital product suite and will drive innovation across our businesses.

Job Description

In the first 12 months as VP – Engineering CTO & Cyber Security, you will:

  • Establish overall software, system, and service architecture methodology, common-practices and technology and design standards for industrial internet-of-things (IIoT) offerings, GE Digital’s industrial application suites, and industrial edge computing solutions, providing industrial resource planning software for client needs.

  • Assess all security and technology stacks; develop a strategy to shift toward more software-defined infrastructure (SDI), infrastructure-as-code (IAC), and cloud-based solutions.

  • Define GE Digital’s Cyber Security automation strategy; create a team around this and drive a DevOps construct with integration build automation and reporting.

  • Understand the accessibility risk for moving to cloud-based offerings and create a strategy with supporting frameworks for the business and customers.

  • Assess new technologies in partnership with the Security Investment Council; make appropriate investment recommendations.

  • Develop a roadmap for a “future state of security” that will align and play horizontally across the GE Digital and GE businesses.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a STEM-related Degree; a Computer Science degree is highly desirable.

  • A candidate must have 15 years of professional experience in Information Technology or software engineering, OR a Master’s degree with 12 years of similar experiences.

  • You have demonstrated the ability to build and lead an IT/Security/Architecture/Engineering team with a minimum of 6 years in a management position and senior management interaction, ideally in a cross-functional, matrix organization.

  • Minimum 5 years of cloud expertise and developing complex SaaS software; understanding of edge to cloud computing and moving from on-premise to cloud is essential.

  • Minimum 6 years experience developing software in an agile environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication and leadership skills with the ability to quickly build credibility, influence, and make recommendations to all levels. Demonstrated capability to communicate technology/architectural strategy and direction to CEO and staff level in an audience appropriate way.

  • Demonstrated experience embracing “team of teams” way of working

  • Ability to manage complex technical projects and demonstrates expertise in problem solving and technological innovation.
