The Commercial Leader will develop and lead commercial projects for the new GE Distributed Energy Solutions incubator. This role will develop commercial pipeline, manage customer relationships, structure deals, and lead projects through closure. This will include strong collaboration with GE Ventures, GE Capital, and the GE P&Ls.
As the Commercial Leader, you will:
Identify and create commercial pipeline for distributed energy solutions, including customers in industry, municipalities, universities, and other non-traditional GE customers
Develop, structure, negotiate, and lead commercial deals to closure for GE’s new “Distributed Energy Solutions” incubator
Help to develop commercial rigor for the incubator organization, including pipeline maintenance and reporting, managing projects in Salesforce.com, and supporting business performance reviews for leadership
Deliver deal financial value to achieve GE incubator operating plan
Work closely with GE Capital, 3rd party financial institutions, and customer to structure deals
Represent the team externally at conferences, and customer events
Support go-to-market strategy with Distributed Energy Solutions team and GE partners in Ventures and Renewables to develop marketing initiatives, create value proposition, and identify new customers
Partner and collaborate with GE P&Ls, businesses, and functions to identify points of intersection for new business and market opportunities that deliver optimal value
Gather and provide market, customer, and competitor insights
Identify market and adjacent opportunities, unmet customer needs, and competitive intelligence positioning, in collaboration with GE marketing teams
Work with GE digital marketing to develop and implement customer acquisition campaigns
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or equivalent field from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Commercial Marketing and Market Development role(s)
- Ability and willingness to travel 50% of the time, both domestically and internationally, as required
Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from an accredited university or college
Demonstrated experience in successfully identifying customer needs, developing value propositions, and creating and closing complex deals
Deep expertise in energy markets, power economics, and emerging technologies
Excellent oral and written communications skills with proven ability to develop and message strategy to senior leadership
Ability to perform in highly dynamic, rapidly changing environment
Well rounded experience, including deal experience with government agencies, commercial customers, and international partners
Existing connections and pipeline with industrial and distributed energy customers
Experience negotiating Power Purchase Agreements
