General Electric Product Support Engineer in Bohemia, New York

Job Description Summary

The Electrical Power Product Support Engineer will act as the point of contact for all customer technical related issues regarding GE Aviation Power Electronics Conversion & Control products.

You will proactively monitor in-service product performance and lead all in-service investigations, liaising closely with the customer & internal GE organizations, ensuring the correct process and tools are used to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Roles and Responsibilities

In addition you will :

  • Lead all in-service product investigations to drive timely root cause determination and implement corrective actions

  • Using reliability data, overhaul shop repair data, and warranty data, you will proactively review product performance, identify any trends, and work with the Project and Engineering teams to:

  • Resolve any performance concerns

  • Reliability trend analysis and corrective action planning

  • FRACAS process execution, with associated Failure Review Boards (FRB) for fielded products

  • Drive product field issue RCCA Lessons Learned into the business

  • Responsible for driving the overall planning, management and completion of all customer technical queries

  • GE lead for all customer technical issues and investigation of product field failures

  • Lead for all Product Support related activities on New Product development and introductions

  • Technical presentations at fleet or customer specific technical review meetings

  • Creation of product briefings / Service Information Letters

  • Drive timely updates / maintenance, and provide review approval, for all fielded technical publications

  • Support the activities of the Safety Product Management Team (SPMT)

  • Maintain a relationship with the customer facing teams, Product Management leaders, Engineering organizations, and the overhaul repair organization to ensure consistent knowledge of in-service product performance, and strategies / plans to support

  • Maintain and develop a detailed knowledge of current and future products

  • Monitor the in-service performance of GE products, to identify problem areas and make recommendations and take actions to affect a solution

  • Support the customer in the field through modifications programs and dedicated customer technical support visits

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Engineering)

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical field, operations and / or fleet management

  • Must be a US Citizen or current Green Card Hold

Desired Characteristics

  • Proven track record of supporting electrical products, electronic design

  • Possess an in depth understanding of aircraft systems, or supporting Electrical / Electronic products, for a similar safety critical industry

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • General understanding of aircraft and aircraft systems

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results

  • Demonstrated commitment for process improvement
