Job Description Summary
Islip, Long Island systems facility…think components located in the cabin of aircraft (system controls, gear boxes, graphic cards).
As a Coating, Spraying & Equipment Maintenance Operator you are responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Conformal Coating machines, including the hand spray application in a low volume – high mix manufacturing environment and for the cleaning, maintenance & troubleshooting of equipment
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Conformal Coating & Spraying Operation, Maintenance & Cleaning - 70%
Performs basic and complex electro-mechanical set up, utilizing cables, connectors, and test equipment, must be able to adjust and modify machine profiles as need to meet specification.
Maintain, position & operate the spray guns, set the nozzles, and synchronize the action of the process; Maintain & troubleshoot equipment as necessary
Knowledge of fundamentals of mechanics & equipment troubleshooting
Perform regular cleaning & maintenance on Coating machines, Spraying & Cleaning machines and equipment
Test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment
Keep equipment operating efficiently
Adjust, set-up & Operate Conformal Coat machine per job order as per work instructions & specifications.
Load proper parts into machine monitor gauges on the control panel
Check products to ensure that they are being painted evenly
Ensure PC boards have been prepped/masked prior to CC application; Monitor PCs through the entire process
Verification and post-inspection of conformal coated PCB's
Perform equipment/product changeover as necessary
Utilize written or visual instructions involving use of quantitative information from specifications, graphs, pictures, documentation, dials, gages, etc.
Follow ESD guidelines principles; Maintains records of test, quality and specification data
Engage and participate in a self-directed teaming environment
Provide training and mentoring for other employees as required
Squat or bent frequently and stand for extended periods
Lift heavy objects and trays of products that are coated may weigh up to 25 lbs
Utilizes written or visual instructions involving use of quantitative information from specifications, graphs, pictures, documentation, dials, gages, etc.
Provides written and/or oral communications concerning a variety of situations
Keeps workstation, tools and equipment in a neat and orderly manner
Understands and complies with all Company, safety rules and regulations
Engages and participates in a self-directed teaming environment
Conformal Coating Applications - 30%
Apply epoxy and conformal coatings using dispensing equipment
Exercise care to ensure that each step in the process is completed correctly and that the part or finished product meets the quality specifications
Prepare Printed Circuit boards for conformal coat by cleaning items and surfaces to be finished; Mask connectors and other objects on the board
Mix chemicals according to manufacturers specifications
Understand % and ratios for mixtures of chemicals
Follow written specifications or operation sheet in the completion of the assigned tasks
Requirements/Knowledge:
Education Required:
High School Diploma or GED
IPC-A-610 Certification
Experience
- 3-5 years of Operator/manufacturing experience
Skill Level Required:
Ability to learn how to use hand spray equipment
Skills required in maintaining close tolerances, advanced specification reading, ability to operate and maintain/troubleshoot a variety of complex machines and equipment
Basic to intermediate computer skills
Use hand and power tools.
Good level of knowledge of manufacturing processes
Should possess dexterity skills, good hand and eye coordination
Must be able to follow Operation Instructions (English)
Desired Qualifications:
Past experience in a manufacturing environment
Past experience with hand spraying applications
Past experience with preventative maintenance & troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment
Past experience in a self-directed teaming environment
Lean manufacturing knowledge
The hourly pay range for this position is $23 to $30/hr. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, their education, and the work location. Final offers will be dependent on level and quality of work experience.
