Job Description Summary

As the Lead Joining Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying, developing, industrializing, and globalizing new welding, brazing, and other joining technology for the GE Services and manufacturing Network. Responsibilities include project management of AMRT joining projects supporting technology and productivity initiatives.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with Repair Technology Component owners and Global Repair Solutions operations teams to drive standardized joining process improvements to enable productivity and technology development

• Create Special Process Documents for repair processes developed in the RDC

• Validate service centers repair process qualifications / certifications

• Develop new repair process technology to assist component team in implementing repair strategy

• Perform repair process technology jugular experiments in RDC’s

• Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

• Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

Qualifications/Requirements :

• Bachelor’s in Welding, Materials, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or equivalent Engineering degree or experience

• Significant engineering experience

Eligibility Requirements:

• Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time, including internationally, as required

Desired Characteristics:

• Familiarity with automated laser cladding systems for turbine airfoil refurbishment

• Familiarity with NC programming of machine tools or similar systems

• Familiarity with superalloy welding and brazing metallurgy.

• Familiarity with welding and brazing metallurgy.

• Additional experience in repair of industrial gas turbine components

• Familiarity with Joining processes such as GTAW, LBW and diffusion brazing

• Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers

• Encourages input from all members of the team

• Communicates messages clearly and concisely
