General Electric Mechanical Design Engineer – Product Definition - LPT Components in Bielsko-Biala, Poland

Job Description Summary

In this role you will be responsible for product definition and product development of LPT engine components (nozzles, blades, structures) using CAD and CEA tools.

Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Support MRB processes for LPT components in current productions (complementary)

  • MRB review, analysis and dispositioning on applicable quality procedures, GSC priorities and timely manner

  • Proactively working with System Eng., Designers, Hardware Owners, machining shop improving design, solving manufacturability issues, and simplifying production.

  • Proposing cost out ideas and potential design changes improving producibility and/or cost of the product

  • Support Substantiation Validation (VSE) – supplier’s data verification for consistency, analysis for process capabilities, comparative studies to currently experienced processes

  • Performing structural FEM analysis and/or results postprocessing with dedicated tools for design criteria check

  • Reporting for status of the performed task including preparation of presentations with detailed description of obtained results, and active participation in technical/management meetings with design GSC representative

  • Definition & development of LPT components geometry and development of its design achieving required functional parameters and required durability without compromising the manufacturability and business expectation – cost targets and delivery on time.

  • Definition of NX geometrical 3D models of LPT components within applicable Team Center database

  • Performing structural FEM analysis and/or results postprocessing with dedicated tools for design criteria check

  • Perform preliminary engineering analysis for chosen LPT module design (weight analysis, component/module inertia calculations)

  • Stack-Up analysis for specific geometrical features of individual components and/or module integration

  • Reporting for status of the performed task including preparation of presentations with detailed description of obtained results, and active participation in technical reviews/meetings with design Focal Point and/or System Engineer

  • Support to management of Team Center database and related registries dedicated to configuration evolution

  • Analysis of module concept and/or detailed design of the component from manufacturing perspective including feasibility study, technological challenges, robustness of potential manufacturing process and identification of detailed solutions required for robust manufacturing process

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial / Technology Engineering

  • Good knowledge of drawings interpretation and Global Dimensioning and Tolerances

  • Fundamental knowledge of aviation engines, LPT and components, material application in aviation industry and materials durability would be appreciated

  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills in English

  • Fluent Polish language communication, intermediate oral and written English communication skills

  • Highly skilled in MS Office (Excel, Power Point)

Additional Qualifications

  • knowledge of CAD modelling and drafting (NX software, TC)

  • experience with engineering FEM analysis and simulations – static, fractures, dynamic (Ansys, HyperMesh, Siesta) #LI-EÓ1
