Job Description Summary

Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical Mechanical Transmissions for Helicopter’s and VTOL applications.

In this spirit, we are looking for a talented engineer, expected to perform design activities with particular focus to static structures design.

Module Designer will perform design activities within the 3rd Parties NPI mechanical transmissions projects. In this position she/he will follow the whole New Product Introduction process from Concept Design to Detailed Definition, Validation/Certification/Testing and Production Support.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ownership of gearbox module mechanical designs for New Product Introduction (NPI) programs

  • Designing full gearbox lay-out and collaborating with components design engineers.

  • Execution of the design and evaluation of business-critical projects using sound engineering principles, and adhering to business standards and program requirements

  • Recommend approach to meet the technical and program requirements. Implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments.

  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated to substantiate architecture performance and assemblies and/or systems consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Collaboration with cross functional / cross-organization teams including the Aero engineering, Thermal sciences, Materials engineering, Test engineering, Systems engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Drafting

  • Monitor and effectively communicate projects status, issues and significant developments.

  • Lead in module design efforts, participate in analysis and manufacturing technology, quality, productivity and other initiatives.

  • Support System Engineer on trade studies and lay-out definition in the early phase of NPI.

  • Issue technical documents (i.e.: reports, specifications) and carry out analysis relevant to component design.

  • Support Design Reviews and validation/certification/testing activities

  • Proactively liaise with other Company functions and Suppliers, to achieve producibility, manufacturability and cost targets.

  • Continue to build technical knowledge expertise in aeronautical gearbox components

  • Lead Lean projects across the organization

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master of Mechanical Engineering/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university

  • Experience with mechanical design of complex structures

  • Ability to build and calculate complex stack-ups

  • Experience with CAD tools (i.e. Unigraphics NX)

  • English language knowledge, both written and oral (Italian language will be an advantage)

  • EU Work Permit

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to perform in an international team environment
