Job Description Summary
The QA Automation Engineer role is responsible for planning, managing and executing the testing of Electric Insurance applications required for strategic project initiatives. This person will develop and/or lead team members in all SDLC aspects of those projects. Direct responsibilities include, but are not limited to architecture, design, development testing, and support of the company’s automation frameworks. Success in this position requires self-motivation, strong technical ability, professional maturity, cross-functional communication, mentoring & team leaderships skills. The candidate will be required to accurately estimate, plan and execute work assignments. This individual is recognized within the team as a subject matter expert of technical and process skills. This person will influence standards and best practices, lead challenging Automation projects and contribute to the overall strategic direction for the team and the company.
Job Description
Primary Testing & Automation Responsibilities
Expert in designing, developing, testing and deploying automation frameworks across technologies (back-end, API, front-end, and other test cases in a complex multi-product, multi-services environment using tools such as Microsoft UFT, Selenium Protractor, or by writing code in our in-house testing framework)
Lead and actively manage architecture and design review discussions for technical and non-technical audiences
Ensure designed automation frameworks are highly efficient and reliable and require little to no manual support
Establish clear expectations of scope and timing of testing deliverables and proactively notify stakeholders of status
Define, execute, and oversee comprehensive documentation on frameworks, tests, test data, and test results
Analyze, identify trends and debug defects and provide team direction to prioritize and resolve them
Lead and/or participate in code reviews
Mentor and develop technical competency of junior members and guide stakeholders
Self-directed ownership and support of automation framework maintenance
Responsible for rightsizing and implementing new automation technology investments and test approaches
Create reporting frameworks which provide test results, and set up automated storage and distribution of them
Define and maintain a sprint roadmap for test automation in consultation with the team and other stakeholders
Provide direction and ensure proper alignment of team automation tasks to ensure tasks are delivered on schedule
Coordinate performance and stress testing of applications
Qualifications:
5+ years of QA Automation or developer experience on web applications in production environments.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or other related or similar field) or comparable experience
Experience with multiple types of testing, i.e. regression testing, ad hoc testing, feature testing, user acceptance testing, user interface testing, integration testing, performance testing, security testing
Success working with senior level business managers
Proven ability to manage situations, see the big picture, focus on their own deliverables, have sound judgement, listen acutely, process reasoning, and have a willingness to evolve
Ability to use quality assurance metrics and reporting to make decisions
Ability to quantify the cost and benefit equation of applicable investments and subsequently influence decisions
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with key stakeholders
Ability to proactively identify issues and find resourceful solutions to provide a complete and thorough work product, on time and on budget
Expert in multiple programming languages, for example, Java, PowerShell, Python etc.
Ability to write backend integration and application programming interface (API) tests
Expert in Automation toolsets and keeps pace with industry trends
