Job Description Summary
The Software & Controls Engineering Manager for the Hybrids Power Electronics CoE should lead and coordinate all technical aspects to ensure the delivery of NPI Engineering scope for Power Electronic Systems and Customer specific opportunities. The Software & Controls Engineering Leader is the main interface from Engineering to Product Leadership and accountable for the Software & Controls engineering aspects within the product development and product lifecycle support, including but not limited to the technology roadmap new products, upgrades, cost-out, obsolescence, service and RCA activities.
Lead the global Hybrids Power Electronics Software & Controls engineering team to support the development of Power Electronic Systems to grow the GE Renewable Hybrids Business in the, but not limited to, Solar and Energy Storage segments.
Work closely with Application Engineering, Hardware Engineering & Product Leadership teams on product & technology roadmap development to meet & lead segment needs.
Interact with key customers at a technical level, translating customer needs into technical requirements & differentiating features.
Lead the Software & Controls Power Electronics CoE engineering team through the NPI development process and tollgate reviews with business leadership.
Lead and coordinate the detailed Engineering activities to deliver on critical product KPIs in support of the GE Renewable Energy – Hybrids business strategy.
Work collaboratively with other technology organizations and teams within GE to accelerate technology development cost-effectively.
Be aware, engaged and in some cases represent GE in industry events and within professional societies.
Translate requirements (grid codes, market developments, etc) into software tasks with hardware interdependencies… including customer project discussions and execution
Be accountable for the planning and progress of design, test and commissioning activities for specific projects, inclusive of communication to local and global team members.
Drive technical support during commissioning (national and international)
Monitor, control and manage engineering budgets and change control process.
Provide technical advice, mentoring and leadership to the overall project team as appropriate including Commissioning and Service.
Lead technical coordination to achieve final acceptance with customer
Project leadership/management skills
Familiar with the GE NPI Process and Reviews
PhD in Engineering from an accredited University or relevant Industry Experience
Ability to work effectively cross-functionally to maximize results for the GE Renewable Energy - Hybrids business
Ability to work as a team with individuals at all levels in the organization to achieve results
Deep understanding of converter/inverter control including classic and modern control strategies
Working knowledge and experience with of MATLAB SIMULINK and PSCAD
Able of implementing of discrete control algorithm in C/C++ Understanding of power electronics, semiconductors, bridge topologies, pulse pattern generation strategies, power loss calculations, and design of passive components (i.e. filter)
Execution driven and result oriented
Good communication skills (spoken and written)
Excellent reporting and good personal organizational skills

Proficient in English and German
Must have technical background in software and software release process
