Job Description Summary

The Service Engineering Leader (m/f/d) organizes the engineering support for the service organization. He/she takes requests from the field, the fleet managers or the parts organization, converts them into work packages and assigns them to his employees who are assigned to him on a disciplinary or technical basis. At the same time, the Service Engineering Leader (m/f/d) forms a link to the core engineering and the global engineering community and coordinates assignments and the allocation of work packages with the departments. In doing so, he/ she ensures that deadlines and budget requirements are met and that high quality standards are maintained in line with GE requirements. He/she leads his employees according to the GE Leadership Behaviours and thus ensures a good working atmosphere.

Job Description

Reporting Line : Service Director


  • Technical and disciplinary leadership of the Service Engineering Team

  • Technical guidance of interdisciplinary working teams

  • Receiving and organizing engineering support requests from Fleet Management

  • Planning, execution and supervision of complex/difficult development and/or project engineering tasks

  • Taking over of technical project responsibility

  • Enforcing the engineering processes currently in place at GE Power Conversion

  • Support of the sales department in the preparation of quotations

  • Implementation and conduction of the currently valid change process

  • Time planning and distribution of tasks to the service engineering team

  • Team workload planning using the IT tools

  • Selection of project engineers according to the required qualification and skills.

  • Supervision/coordination of external services (such as suppliers, laboratories, externally contracted investigations).

  • Tracking and enforcing completion of tasks according to schedule and quality requirements.

  • Preparation and participation in technical reviews

  • Provision of work deliverables according to applicable workflows.

  • Ensuring compliance with budget requirements

  • Assigning and coordinating work packages beyond the German engineering team, e.g. to engineering teams at other GE sites

  • Coordination and tracking of engineering core packages with core engineering.

  • Degree in electrical engineering with a concentration in power electronics, electrical drive engineering, or electrical power engineering.

  • Experience in leading and managing complex engineering tasks

  • Many years of experience in the professional and disciplinary management of (international) expert teams

  • Commercial and technical expertise and special knowledge in various tasks

  • Written and spoken German and English

  • Engineering tools (PLM, SAP, etc.)
