The Loads, Controls & Operability team in the Core Engineering (CTO) org. of Onshore Wind is seeking a Leader for its system level (turbine/ farm Simulation Technologies development team.
This global role has a scope that ranges from the traditional “Turbine &Farm Loads” discipline to a broad mandate of providing Simulation & Modeling tools for LCOE/ Customer value and quality creation in wind energy systems, to creating new platforms for Wind&system dynamics/loads analysis automation and optimization:
Provide leadership on the development, validation and sustainment of wind system simulation platforms – specifically with the goal of building best in class speed/automation, optimization capabilities and predictive accuracy for turbine loads and dynamics phenomena (for use from conceptual to detailed design)
Create and sustain a strong partnership with the System Design Methods team to deliver a differentiating design system for GE Wind’s product segment teams, collaborating on strategy/MGTPs to development and deployment in the product teams
Foster a strong partnership with the Chief Engineers Office and Segment teams to ensure that the ONW design system drives differentiating design capabilities, quality and consistency for all ONW products
Responsible for interfacing with cross functional teams in ONW Segments, Digital and Commercial Sales to determine, execute and manage simulation platform development by translating requirements into a vision for software and infrastructure development
Champion simplification and Digital thread for design to improve internal effectiveness and speed-to-market
Demonstrate accountability for functional, business and company objectives while driving strong technical/engineering excellence and external foci
Manage and deliver on team portfolio of Simulation, Tools and Modeling capability delivery, NPI support activities, NTI programs and also the associated simulation infrastructure (in partnership with Digital Technology collaborators)
Masters in Engineering (Wind, Mechanical, or Aerospace) or Physics from an accredited University or equivalent knowledge or experience
Solid industrial experience in engineering teams developing design/analysis tools, simulation and optimization capabilities and deploying them for NPI use
Demonstrated proficiency in leading multi-disciplinary teams or projects that integrate across functions and span competences in analytic, computational and experimental methods
Demonstrated expertise and experience in the Wind or Aerospace areas (OEM, operator, consulting, R&D or certification) delivering successes in the “systems” disciplines i.e., turbine or farm system integration (product or platform teams), Loads, Controls etc.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to lead in a global matrix environment with multiple stakeholder groups (incl. internal and external customers)
Proficient in programming, scientific computing and project management of large-scale software systems incl. modern practices (cloud services, s/w develop tools)
Demonstrated ability (both personal and as a coach) to communicate clearly and concisely, develop relationships across the organization
Proven ability to build hi-performance teams for engineering excellence and effectively managing/resolving creative conflict
Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to set vision for future and a proven record of innovative tech. or design development
Solid experience with aero-elastic wind turbine simulation tools; proven ability to integrate models with internal and external analysis codes
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in wind turbine system dynamics as well as in driving advancements in design technologies either at farm, turbine or component levels
Demonstrated ability to deliver tangible outcomes from internal/ external R&D collaborations on simulation and modeling tools to create new-generation of design capabilities
Six Sigma Green Belt
Ph.D. in Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent knowledge or experience
