Job Description Summary

Roles will typically be aligned to specific businesses or sectors. Individuals will generally either be located at, and only support, a specific site or project (including construction), or have a role that requires specific industry/business expertise or interaction with specific business customers. This category will include those EHS professionals involved in “designing for EHS” (NPI), individuals responsible for customer or industry engagement, and EHS professionals working at customer sites or projects (generally not managing teams of EHS professionals or regions).

Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.

The job allows modification of procedures and practices covering work as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability (quality, volume, timeliness etc.).

Job Description

EHS Manager

Responsible for leading and managing the environmental, health and safety (EHS) aspects in the Business line GSI for the region EU Central with a focus on construction and commissioning projects activities.

Ability to support Projects organization on different execution scope, like Turnkey project, consortium partner EPC. From Civil Works to end commissioning for all activities for a GRID business.

  • Main Point of Contact in the region. Report to the Regional EHS Leader for Central Europe.

  • Understand regulatory changes and trends and forecast business impacts.

  • Drive implementation of GE and regulatory EHS expectations within his/her region activities, including at customer sites, workshops in case of need, etc.

  • Actively support the Regional EHS Leader of his/her Business line in EHS matters.

  • Ability to hire and train EHS Managers for Customer site projects, covering multi countries /Projects, lead multicultural organization and team.

  • Primary contact for all Operational team for the projects that you will manage

  • Develop strong working relationship with operational team in his/her scope and help drive the expected EHS performance and culture across all operations.

  • Set-up EHS operating rhythm and momentum at customer project site (accident calls, EHS reviews, etc.)

  • Work closely with the Business Line EHS team and drive Business Line initiatives and actions at regional or global level

  • Support the consolidate regional data for his/her Business Line

  • Coordinate delivery of EHS training as required.

  • Coordinate with the regional EHS leader the incident investigation and ensure that investigations of accidents and compliance incidents are conducted, documented, and reported as required.

  • Ensure all internal and external EHS reporting is completed on time and with accuracy

Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering, environmental science, safety management or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university is required. Graduate degree is preferred (Country EHS Accreditation is required)

  • Fluent Germany and English

  • Proven experience in EHS program development, implementation, and leadership experience with a focus on business segments such as chemical, electric Power, refining, electrification, Onshore & Offshore or similar industrial sector.

  • Strong knowledge of and experience with major environmental regulatory and permitting programs addressing subject including but not limited to air quality, water quality, hazardous chemical management, industrial safety, etc.

  • Strong knowledge of, and experience with, fundamental health & safety programs including but not limited to Lockout-Tagout-Try, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Hazardous Chemical Management/Process Safety Management, permit to work, Work at Height, etc.

  • Experience with and knowledge of independent standards organizations and certification programs such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate information to a broad range of people and audiences as circumstances dictate.

  • Ability to successfully manage and develop personnel in remote locations and work in a team environment across a multi-site organization with a variety of cultures.

  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
