Job Description Summary

As an Enterprise High Performance Computing as a Service (HPCaaS) Systems Administration Engineer you will be an active member of the team responsible for operating, maintaining and supporting our High Performance Computing environment while focusing on elevating the quality, stability and performance of the service. You will be responsible for contributing toward the daily operational support of the end user community, providing excellent service with a strong customer focus and developing the skills necessary to successfully maintain strong performance against the evolving needs of the operation and the business. Lastly, you will contribute to the dedicated identification and implementation of advancements that can be made to the daily operation aligned to elevating the key performance indicators of our services with a mindset of continuous improvement and unyielding integrity.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the day-to-day site operations of a High Performance Computing shared service environment supporting Engineering functional communities across multiple GE business units inclusive of compute, data storage, and visualization products and services.

  • Embrace a customer-centric operating culture that values change, continuous improvement and is passionate about innovation and operating in a collaborative, accountable and transparent way.

  • Provide excellent support to customers and partners in partnership with your team to ensure positive outcomes and results for the business.

  • Partner with members of the operations team to co-develop creative solutions to challenging technical problems and with operations leaders to test, validate, and implement through a defined change management process.

  • Partner with site operations leaders to ensure standard technologies, configurations, processes, tools, and strategies are used in the management of site infrastructure; reducing and minimizing duplication of effort.

  • Ensure the High Performance Computing infrastructure environments are built, maintained and operated in accordance with defined HPCaaS global technology standards as well as GE cybersecurity and risk imperatives.

  • Support organizational initiatives and technical projects that have been prioritized for the team as an active, contributing member of the team, while using the opportunity and exposure to a broad, diverse cohort of team members to grow your skills and establish yourself as a strong technical resource for the operations pillar of the team over time.

  • Partner with operational leaders to establish vision, drive the operational, technology, quality and resource strategy for the organization.

  • Navigate through ambiguity, prioritize conflicting asks and show ability to adapt to changing situations.

Education Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • At least 3 years of Information Technology experience in a large enterprise-class environment comprised of complex, heterogeneous technologies.

  • Experience operating and supporting a High Performance Computing infrastructure environment aligned to simulation-based engineering and science, research and/or technology development.

  • Experience with HPC job scheduling (PBSPro,) resource management, administration of large Linux/Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, VMWare virtualized infrastructure, enterprise-class storage technologies (DDN/Lustre, NetApp NAS) as well as Mellanox Infiniband and Cisco Catalyst and ACI software defined networks.

  • Experience supporting engineering software aligned to finite element analysis, computational fluid dynamics and mechanical analytics or equivalent.

  • Shown ability to communicate clearly across all levels of an organization and to work effectively across geographic and business boundaries.

  • Demonstrated energy and enthusiasm with the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and global teaming skills.

  • Process oriented - results, quality and cost driven.

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified.

  • Exposure to ITIL and Lean Six Sigma practices.

  • Experience working in an organization that embraces and practices Lean methodologies.
