General Electric Staff Software Architect in Bengaluru, India

Job Description Summary

As a Staff Software Architect, you will lead overall software architecture of IAAS Layer for the Edison Health Link Platform, Translate product requirement to platform architecture and design, risk retirement for new features/technology. You will actively contribute to the Platform team with directions from the Principal Software Architect and Senior Staff Software Architect aligning to the Digital business strategy.

Job Description

In this role, you will:

  • Own the Architecture, high level design & Critical to Quality (CTQ) flow-down for the Digital platform

  • Drive the guideline for platform specs to adequate level for analysis/design, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), reliability, prototyping & configuration management.

  • Drive innovation/simplification in the platform from time to time

  • Drive regular technical evaluation with Technical Lead /Project Lead ( Software Performance Reports, design reviews, design conflicts, Release quality, learnings)

  • Review/direct problem resolution for show stopper/customer issues on need

  • Coach/Mentor/Ramp-up team including Technical Lead’s & review/challenge design/estimations & responsible for timelines

  • Balances business priorities and technical decisions & gets the buy-in accordingly


  • Bachelors/Master's degree in Computer Science Engineering or related disciplines

  • 10+ years experience in architecting , designing and developing software solutions for Medical Devices

Desired Technical Skills

  • Strong software development background with hands on programming in Python, scripting skills, Linux flavors, Open Stack

  • Working experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems especially in healthcare domain

  • Experienced in developing microservices and having architected applications based on microservices, Deep understanding of orchestration tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Storage support such as Ruk/Ceph

  • Demonstrated experience driving CTQ flow-down to subsystems

  • An authority in developing code for other developers to learn from

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated experience with Imaging device, web and edge/cloud technologies and architecting solutions based on microservice architecture specifically on Medical Devices/Healthcare domain

  • Understands technical and business discussions relative to future architecture direction aligning with business goals

  • Demonstrated experience on global product releases throughout the entire NPI cycle

  • Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks

  • Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience
