General Electric Sr Tax Manager 3 - Tax Operations in Bengaluru, India

Role Summary:Reporting to GE Digital’s Global Tax Director, the Global Tax Operations Leader will be responsible for GE Digital’s tax accounting, reporting and forecasting; its tax compliance processes as well as operational TP matters.

Essential Responsibilities:Tax accounting, reporting and forecasting. This includes among others

Ensure that the quarterly and annual financial statement reporting of accounting for income taxes under US GAAP is complete and accurate;

Lead the tax quarterly close and consolidation processes including tax provision, information requests, disclosures, and documentation;

Monitor global deferred tax assets for realization and support positions taken with respect to valuation allowances against such assets;

Manage tax account reconciliation process, ensuring proper documentation is maintained to support deferred tax balances and taxes payable/receivable;

Manage quarterly internal control procedures for accounting for income taxes and coordinate with internal and attest auditors for internal controls testing;

Partner closely with tax and non-tax teams to ensure that they understand the impacts of tax accounting on their business tax objectives;

Work with FP&A and Treasury to forecast quarterly and annual effective tax rates and cash tax outflows;

Manage communications with Controllership, FP&A, Treasury, tax consultants, and external auditors on emerging tax accounting issues;

Serve as a subject matter expert on accounting for income taxes to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and procedures;

Drive operational excellence and continuously improve the tax controllership and operations environment

Tax Compliance. Overseeing and providing support for the preparation of GE’s US tax returns as well as working with external providers and GE CoEs in order to ensure that local tax returns (e.g. CIT, VAT/GST/S&U tax, withholding taxes) are filed in time.

Transfer Pricing. Working with the controllership and accounting teams to ensure that TP policies are implemented correctly.

Qualifications/Requirements:BS in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration;

Minimum 8 years of tax experience with a large publicly-traded multinational company in a pan regional role and/or Big 4 accounting firm with a focus on tax accounting and reporting.

Desired Characteristics:Proficient in US GAAP tax accounting standards and Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 concepts for a global multinational company;

Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in audit- and tax (accounting/compliance) processes;

Ability to develop, implement, and sustain "best practice” processes to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy in accounting and compliance processes;

Knowledge of US federal tax laws, rules and regulations and exposure to various non-US, state and local tax laws, rules and regulations and Transfer Pricing;

Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Strong analytical and influencing skills, detail oriented, independent thinking and decision-making abilities;

Ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform in a dynamic environment, hands on and respond quickly;

Adaptable/flexible: open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or ability to work in ambiguous situations;

Strong project management skills, capable of taking ownership and accountability for a project from start to finish;

Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills [English];

Ability to thrive in an environment where coordination and teamwork is a priority;

Willingness to learn quickly and consistently to both achieve excellent results and to grow their own capabilities;

Ability to work with finance reporting software (e.g. Hyperion) or (tax technology) software such as SABRIX would be desirable;
