General Electric Sr Infrastructure Architect in Bengaluru, India

Role Summary:Role focuses on the implementation of network solutions for GE Aviation's Infrastructure in Asia. Own all aspects of network for Aviation I.T. in Asia including but not limited to vitality, finances, strategy, contractor management, and lead to drive outcomes. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the org, manage complex issues within area of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as direct supervisor of detailed implementation and support activities for network deployments and upgrades in the region

  • Act as subject matter expert for network processes and supporting applications functionality & primary liaison to Regional Leaders

  • Gather & review the network requirements in accordance with regulatory and compliance requirements in the region

  • Plan and execute/co-ordinate the approved network design in a specific change window

  • Monitor and optimize network performance and assure network security in a high availability environment

  • Work with telecom providers to report, troubleshoot, and resolve WAN related issues where applicable

  • Provide organizational leadership in the planning, evaluation, design, development, implementation, and operation of Network solutions

  • Lead the preparation of long range systems plans and assure that they are in tune with business objectives and goals

  • Maintain effective communication with customer, client, supplier and system’s management.

  • Maintain current knowledge of new system management practices and information technologies that are applicable to business objectives and creatively promote their use

  • Assure conformance to system architecture, methods, standards and practices and promote their creation


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or in STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional IT experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering

  • Strong understanding of network terminology, troubleshooting concepts, and layer 1 -3 connectivity

  • Basic understanding of how compute / applications interact with the network

  • Strong understanding of how to troubleshoot / triage network related issues

  • Strong understanding of how to configure network devices

  • Strong understanding of IP address management

  • Ability to learn to use network tools to aid in troubleshooting / monitoring the network

  • Ability to work to deadlines and think critically about the task at hand

  • Strong understanding of routing / switching / wireless technologies

  • Basic understanding of complex technologies like firewalls, IPS, load balancing

  • Ability to understand network utilization / analysis to manage network capacity

  • CCNA or equivalent certification & working towards CCNP

  • Possesses knowledge of network monitoring and troubleshooting tools; ITSM and ITIL processes

  • Leverages communication and collaboration to solve problems with local peers across various functions.

  • Tenacious problem solver demonstrating an innate curiosity and passion for solving difficult problems.

  • Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed networks

  • Previous experience of having worked with Agile methodologies a plus

  • Previous experience supporting large enterprise network infrastructure (e.g. at a Fortune 500 company)

Routing expertise –

  • Physical routers - Cisco routers and switches

  • Linux based soft routers and routing protocols

  • Routing: OSPF with hands-on experience managing enterprise secure LAN

  • VPN- IPsec Tunnel, OpenVP, MPLS VPN

  • Firewall- Cisco 4120

  • Infoblox- DNS & IPAM solutions


  • Desired: CCNP/JNCIP-ENT with hands on knowledge
