General Electric Software Engineer in Bengaluru, India

Role Summary:

As a Software Engineer , You will be responsible for programing or configuring features in the Power ServiceNow Platform as part of a dedicated ServiceNow Dev/Ops team. You will also provide support of the application. You will contribute to the team and works with direction from the Senior Team Members or management but works independently.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with system engineers, frontend developers and software developers to implement solutions that are aligned with and extend shared platforms and solutions

  • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques

  • Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts

  • Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.

  • Participate in technical designs and present technical ideas through white boarding (including virtual/global sessions)

  • Execute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus on delivering tasks to meet the product release goal

  • Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation

  • Seek and provide feedback on design and development

  • Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them

  • Help in designing interfaces and information exchange between modules and other systems

  • Responsible for taking direct support cases from users of Power ServiceNow as a member of the DevOps team, on a rotating basis, as well as troubleshoot application alerts from monitoring tools and follow SOPs to resolve or escalate appropriately

  • Apply advanced troubleshooting techniques to provide unique solutions to our customers' individual needs

  • Drive customer communication during critical events and lead retrospective meetings as necessary

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • At least one ServiceNow Certification: ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist Certification, ServiceNow Certified Application Developer Certification, ServiceNow Certified System Administrator Certification

  • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in these technologies Javascript, XML, HTML, AJAX, CSS, bootstrap, webservices (REST & SOAP) OR Master’s degree with 1 years of experience in Javascript, XML, HTML, AJAX, CSS, bootstrap, webservices (REST & SOAP) OR PhD with 1 years of experience in Javascript, XML, HTML, AJAX, CSS, bootstrap, webservices (REST & SOAP)

  • GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed

Desired Characteristics:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience developing on the ServiceNow platform: ServiceNow Adapter, Glide scripts, Transform maps, Service Management, Service catalog, Content management, Integrations (webservice & ETL)

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer Certification• Experience with front-end technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, CSS, AngularJS, BackboneJS, EmberJS, KnockoutJS

  • Hands-on experience developing web applications using HTML5, Java Script, jQuery, CSS, XML, AJAX, CSS, Bootstrap

  • Hands-on experience in SQL Database such as Oracle MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.

  • Strong knowledge of Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles

  • Have a solid understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed web application

  • Has the ability to break down problems and estimate time for development tasks

  • Has the ability to make basic technology choices based on experience

  • Demonstrates awareness about competitors and industry

  • Has the ability to take ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using their discretion to seek help when necessary

  • Voices opinions and presents clear rationale. Uses data or factual evidence to influence
