Designing the blades we sell! By performing technology feasibility studies in close cooperation with our customers, this position is responsible for designing new blades at LM Wind Power ensuring that the blades are fulfilling customer requirements and are within LM Design Specifications. Designing competitive blades customer value is maximized and future business of LM Wind Power is ensured!
This position will have functional and Technical responsibility for various core fields within Conceptual Design required for Rotor optimization E.g. Loads, Rotor Aero, Structural Blade design, combining with Turbine & Controls knowledge & tools programming.
Apart from core technical customer delivery, this position will have functional oversight responsibility for Conceptual Design – India team, in terms of review, guiding and development of capabilities.
Based on highly sensitive and confidential customer data (d-data) design blades by optimizing length, shape, aerodynamic performance, structural build up and aero-elastic behavior in order to ensure best fit on the customer turbine.
Generating the digital twin of the final and physical blade fast and with an accuracy high enough to be able for Sales to price the design and the Technical Key Account Managers to schedule the project
Being in the very early phase of a blade project the ability to design the next new technology into the blade with only sparse information from Engineering and still providing sold and reliable input to sales to price the blades is of key importance!
Challenge existing LM design specifications. Provide visibility to the rest of Engineering on what is constraining LM Blades in being even more competitive.
Continuously improve our design tools ensuring that LM stays best in class when designing blades.
Should be able to Lead and develop one or more of the core disciplines in the Conceptual Design: Blade aerodynamics, turbine modeling, loads simulations, optimization, structural blade design or programming reaching outside the Conceptual Design team. E.g. programming or loads.
Indicative expert experience in one of the defined knowledge areas within Conceptual Design: 5+ years
Indicative total technical experience in the field: 12+ years
Masters in Engineering. Preferable Mechanical, Control, Aero-elasticity or Aerodynamics. PhD can be added advantage.
Being innovative is a must as you always need to find new ways to improve the designs and sometimes challenge current ways of working
In addition to the technical skills, good communications skills are needed when interacting with all external customers always keeping in mind what to share and what not to share
