General Electric Research Analyst (Electrical Technologies – Technology / IP development & Commercialization) in Bengaluru, India
Job Description Summary
As Research Analyst (Technology / IP development & Commercialization), you will search for and analyze technology, intellectual property, and business information in support of technology development and Intellectual Property commercialization in the domain of Electrical technologies including Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electromechanical machines, Renewable Grid integration, Micro grids, Aircraft electrical systems and Power supplies. Your analysis will enable various GE businesses like Renewables, Aviation and Power to develop new technologies / products, develop IP strategy, as well as commercialize technologies via different routes including licensing and technology transfer.
Roles and Responsibilities
Search for and analyze patent and non-patent literature, including product and business information, to enable technology development and technology / IP commercialization projects in a range of Electrical technology domains. Some examples of electrical domains include: electrical systems, smart grid, micro grids, distribution & transmission systems, HVDC systems, renewable and non-renewable power generation systems, wind & solar power plant controls, grid forming technologies, electric vehicles technologies, high power wireless applications, electric and hybrid aircrafts, power conversion systems, electrical machines, M&D of electric machines, etc.
For technology development, work working closely with technical project teams and business leaders, to understand technology / patent / competitive landscapes, analyze risk, and help GE build a robust intellectual property strategy.
For technology commercialization, work closely with GE research technologists and licensing commercial leaders to analyze value propositions of GE technologies, evaluate market needs, identify potential targets and propose business & financial scenarios for commercialization of GE’s technology and/or Intellectual Property.
Present analysis and recommendations to leadership in a concise and actionable manner
Work with multi-disciplinary & cross business team to deliver based on the requirements of project
Deliver on analytics projects within fixed timelines and cost.
Obtain in-depth understanding of key business drivers and use this understanding to accomplish own work.
Use understanding of technology, Intellectual Property and Business scenarios to deliver independently at a task level and propose different solutions outside of set parameters with mentorship.
Proactively reach out and use internal resources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
Advanced (Masters or PhD) in Electrical / Controls / Power Systems / Power Electronics / related fields.
Excellent understanding in core electrical system technologies, with reasonable knowledge on the other fields.
At least 3-4 years of experience in technology R&D or technology / IP analysis, with focus on electrical technologies.
Strong passion for technology & keen interest in developing business acumen. Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies
Strong research and analytical skills. Ability to provide a logical framework to support conclusions
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
Ability to work independently as well as in collaborative team environment
Unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments
Prior experience in Research & Development or Technology development in electrical systems
Prior experience of technology commercialization and Licensing / monetization analytics.
Working knowledge of patent law, and experience in intellectual property analysis.
Understanding of basic financial/accounting concepts; Basic understanding of market analysis
