Job Description Summary
Activities contributing to the design and development of Wind Turbine Blades - particularly focusing on Post Moulding processes. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Accountable for the quality of own work. Subject to direct operations supervision/prescribed work instructions/systems checking. Executes within a well-defined operations framework. There is generally a step by step sequence of standard operational tasks which need to be followed to achieve an end result.
Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement process control systematic improvements to drive down manufacturing risks and/or to enable manufacturing cost-out (cycle time, direct material, direct labour etc.) through engineering solutions. This shall be validated through extensive process stability / capability monitoring
Provide technical support to factories on their daily production. Execute routine tasks related to ECR, QCR and process documentation
Closely collaborate with materials, design, and process specialists to improve and stabilize our processes on key blade issues.
Develop relevant documentation and requirements as part of process improvement tasks - on blade components and subcomponents
Support and resolve ad-hoc engineering related production issues coming from the internal Customer.
5 to 8 years’ experience with manufacturing of wind turbine blades and composites manufacturing.
Comprehensive understanding of current used composites and Wind Turbine Blade manufacturing processes
Proven track record of process improvement initiatives, cost-out, cycle time improvements, rework reduction or similar.
Ideally, Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering/Composites / Mechanical Engineering / Chemical Engineering or similar.
Good competence and execution of Six Sigma/LEAN manufacturing concepts. Preferably you have a Lean Six Sigma Green belt certification and have some experience using MiniTab.
You have extensive experience with either DFMEA or PFMEA Control Plans and SPC – in the composites industry.
Able to travel. Around 25%-30% of your working time – locally or globally. This could be in a manufacturing facility and could be up to 4-6 weeks duration at a time.
For roles outside of the USA- This role requires basic experience in the Engineering/Technology & Process Engineering. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
For roles in USA - Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).
