Job Description Summary
As Sr. Network Operations Engineer for the GE Renewables Digital Technology team the desired candidate will have responsibility for the design, delivery and operational support of networking solutions at remote customer and GE Renewable office locations globally. Ensuring the performance and availability of network solutions and responding with a sense of urgency to system interruptions to ensure systems are returned to operation within set guidelines. This role will routinely review, analyze and recommend network improvements to ensure that the Network can scale with the needs of the applications and services riding on it.
Roles and Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Gather & review the end customer network requirement for connecting systems to GE.
Plan and execute the approved network design in a specific change window.
Monitor and optimize network performance and assure network security in a high availability environment.
Partner with other DT teams and business partners to support manufacturing IT networks.
Work with telecom providers to report, troubleshoot, and resolve WAN related issues.
Enforce and execute user policies and procedures regarding the use of network resources.
Provide on-call support as needed.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience
Physical routers - Cisco & Meraki routers and switches
Linux based soft routers and routing protocols
Routing: BGP, OSPF, with hands-on experience managing Enterprise WAN
VPN- IPsec Tunnel, OpenVPN,
Firewall- Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, Palo
Desired: CCNP or similar
Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed networks
Ability to deliver results in a rapidly changing dynamic environment
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical audiences
Organized and self-motivated with an ability to prioritize and manage demanding workload
