The Mechanical Architect will work in a cross-functional, global team that designs, develops, manufactures, and services complex state-of-the-art medical devices. The individual will lead technical design and implementation for Woman Health and X-Ray Business.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Architect, you will:

  • Develop technical road map for Women Health and X-Ray, Products and provide technical leadership

  • Drive innovation in team thru new Concept, Advance Technology Development

  • Lead New Product Introduction program as Technical leader and drive team through all phase of product development lifecycle

  • Participate and propose strategy in Product Tech council and Long term technology road map discussions

  • Drive standardization by introducing Development Processes and re-use of supply chain / components

  • Collaborate with Chief & Principal Engineers in leading product road map

  • Understand industry and competitive trends / solution and identify GE product gap and propose solution with differentiation.

  • Partner with Platform team to leverage expertise and readily available solutions to improve efficiency

  • Develop other team members, growing in their technical depth and leadership skills.

  • Perform complex calculations, analyses, and testing to verify requirements and assumptions.

  • Use CAD software to produce design artifacts; 3D models, 2D detailed drawings, thermal/structural analyses, tolerance stackups.

  • Deliver product designs with high rigor in areas of suspended mass, bolted joint design, manufacturability and serviceability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Design & Develop domain

  • Minimum 3 Years of experience as Lead Mechanical Engineer

  • Relevant experience in structural engineering, analysis, and verification of mechanical structures, mechanisms, or electro/mechanical assemblies.

  • Understand and apply FDA / IEC and other regulatory requirements

  • Experience applying design tradeoffs to optimize product design

  • Knowledge of Medical Products and their operational environment.

  • Expertise in IEC60601 safety standard family and knowledge of safety standards and appropriate safety device applications.

Desired Characteristics

  • Master’s degree in engineering (Mechanical).

  • Experience with Weibull Analysis and DFR tools – HALT, HAST, Reliability Growth and Demonstration

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis

  • Thermal and/or Structural simulation experience

  • Knowledge on Six Sigma methodology

  • Experience Hardware & Systems knowledge in Medical Devices is a plus

  • Reliability Practitioner
