Job Description Summary
The Composites Materials Application engineer provides direction and assistance to the work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work both independently and with various teams to resolve composite issues related to business initiatives, new product introduction, production, and field service. The issues will require decisions on issues ranging from moderately complex to highly complex over both short and longer time frames within your area of expertise.

Roles and Responsibilities
Execute both independently and as part of a team, materials engineering review and analysis, preparation of test plans for material and hardware evaluations, material and process recommendations, review with engineering leaders as required and other materials engineering support activities.
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
Document and communicate results of technical data generated
Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of ownfunction to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's/Masters degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of experience in disciplinary engineering and science
Desired Characteristics
Expertise / experience in composite materials applications engineering preferably related to supporting the manufacture, design, and testing of PMC components.
Master's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university
Familiar with APQP best practices and implementation
Familiar with process modeling and / or strong computational skills that could be developed for this capability
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to successfully work in a team environment
