General Electric Lead Interaction Designer in Bengaluru, India
As a member of the Design team the "Lead Interaction Designer" should be expert in "user centered design process", UX design, interaction design & should have fairly good knowledge of usability, user research & testing, visual design & UI prototyping. She/He conceptualizes user experiences & interfaces with superior clarity, ease of use & visual balance. She/He will develop creative solutions to complex interactive problems & creating UX strategies in healthcare domain.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Understand and define personas, scenarios and user journey mapping
Conduct competitor analysis and market trend analysis
Proactively understanding the unmet needs of customers. Define the workflow and highlight the true nature of the underlying problems, and propose creative solutions, which can be validated by end users participating in formal research activities during product development.
Convert ideas, finding and solutions to intuitive and meaningful designs with detailed interactions which are responsive or targeted to a device or a channel
Rapidly prototype and evaluate designs with internal teams and customers including wireframes, polished screen mockups, low/mid-fidelity interactive mockups and other UX deliverables.
Evaluate existing or new concept proposals for usability and workflow fit for purpose, and report out the findings.
Translating concepts and prototypes into formal design requirements and specifications documents.
Driving the execution of a global user-centered design strategy and process that promotes ease-of-use and consistency across GE Healthcare products.
Working with Quality & Regulatory teams and with external standards committees to ensure medical regulatory requirements are integrated within the product development process.
Collaborating across relevant stakeholders to balance user, business, and technical requirements, and to ensure that design recommendations are incorporated within commercialized products.
Applying the results of user research toward conceptualizing and generating intuitive and functional solutions for medical device hardware, software, and solutions. Representative components include system enclosures, controls & displays, and patient positioning systems. Representative Deliverables include creating digital or physical conceptual models in a range of low- through high-fidelity techniques, and to perform Human factors assessments.
Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design with concentration in Human Factors, Usability, Interaction design, or closely-related field of study.
5+ years progressive experience as a member of a User experience team
Track record of successfully conceptualizing and executing projects through a comprehensive user-centered design process that includes application of formative and summative user research data, prototyping, and generation of design requirements.
Strong communications (written and verbal), negotiation, and problem solving skills.
Strong level of self-motivation and ability to work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%, including overnight stays.
Proficient in appropriate software for wireframing and mockup (this could include Balsamiq, Photoshop/Fireworks, Illustrator, Expression Blend, SketchFlow, and Visio).– this includes Axure & Flash prototyping software and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Must be willing to relocate to our Bangalore facilities, and work full-time.
Graduate degree in UX Design with concentration in, Usability, Interaction design, or closely-related field of study.
Experience working within the consumer products and healthcare/medical devices sectors.
Familiarity with ISO, SFDA and other regulatory standards.
Experience working within global, cross-functional teams.
Portfolio demonstrating successful examples of conceptual designs, prototypes, and final visual assets used in commercialized products.
External Focus: Understanding customer needs, marketplace dynamics, industry trends, & the competitive landscape in the industry/function & considering the external impact of business activities & decisions on the external environment
