General Electric Lead Engineer - Electronic Hardware in Bengaluru, India

Role Summary:The Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

This role will complement the data acquisition for the manufacturing processes of LM blades. You would come up with innovative & smart solutions

Essential Responsibilities:· Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements

· Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project

· Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures

· Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments

· Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

· Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews

· Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

  • Sound Knowledge of signal processing and digital thread to out put data

  • Conceptualize & Design custom systems to acquire data from the manufacturing processes. Ensure the systems are accurate to reflect the processes

  • Up to date with market ready smart technologies which could be used in manufacturing environment, should be able to tweak to suit the processes

  • Good working experience of, Physical parameters to convert to electrical signals (sensors); convert sensor signals to digital values (signal conditioning); Analog to digital converters (digital values)

  • Good hands-on with Programming languages like C, C++; basic; assembly; lab view (or any other language)

  • Good working experience with DAQ hardware

  • Define system requirements and help plants in sourcing the right hardware.

  • Proactively participate in the upcoming technologies and envisage the hardware & system requirements

  • Understand the composite structures, input materials, sensitivity in handling these materials in manufacturing processes

  • Added advantage is, a knowledge of material properties and behavior at different environmental conditions

  • Application of Risk analysis technique like DFEMA/PFEMA

  • Engineering Change Process (Team Centre preferable), Bill of Materials, Building Technical documentation

  • Collaborate closely both with our Engineering group to understand their requirements and with our plants to develop and implement solutions that are feasible in the production. Facilitate Technical solutions and standardization of equipment

  • Interaction & communication with Project teams in India & Internationally

  • Work with the sourcing teams, meet suppliers & manage to meet targeted milestones, provide feedback and clearly communicate the deadlines/updates

  • Curious about how to integrate new in the field, understand industry 4.0, and can think strategically and practically about your solutions to turn innovation into realistic solutions for our plants

Qualifications/Requirements:· Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical/Electronics/Instrumentation with 10+ yrs of work experience

(or) Masters with 5+ yrs of experience in,

  • working knowledge of Data acquisition hard ware

  • Signal processing and data analysis

  • thorough knowledge of sensors & interphases

  • Statistical analysis/ six sigma (green belt/ black belt)

  • programming languages like C, C++, lab view ...

Preferred would be with a working knowledge of instruments & data acquisition systems with composite structures, like wind turbine blades. Working knowledge of input materials sensitivities, process design & instrumentation to handle newtonian & non-newtonian fluids. Understanding of composite curing mechanism, flow through porous media and wide understanding of defects associated with the VARTM process in large composite structures
