General Electric Lead Blade Service Engineer in Bengaluru, India

Role Summary:The Blade Service Engineer will be part of a team of engineers responsible for evaluation, improvement and delivery of repair and application solutions for wind turbine blades incl. guidance and training of lead field personnel.

Essential Responsibilities:The job will include:

• Issuing and reviewing repair instructions with focus on safety, quality and cycle time

• Issuing application solutions for aero upgrade projects

• Evaluating operational risk for blades with severe blade damages

• Subcontractor qualification (evaluating technical capabilities)

• Serving as a repair process technical expert for lead field personnel

• Training lead field and operational trainer personal for new repair materials and processes

• Executing continuous Improvement and productivity projects

Further, the Blade Service Engineer will work closely with our Blade Inspection Analysis Team to ensure synergy and knowledge sharing between our Inspection and our Repair focused teams.

• Participate in teams for problem solving, standardization, and best practice sharing

• Ability to learn from the field related issues and identify projects/tasks for improvement

• Make technical decisions by application of specialized knowledge / skills

• Effectively communicate with colleagues, customers and suppliers

Qualifications/Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related discipline Minimum of 5 years of experience in composite engineering.


• Ability and willingness to travel

• Ability and willingness to climb wind turbine towers and work at heights

Desired Characteristics:• Engineering Degree, Mechanical or Materials

• Composite material background

• Fluent written and oral skills in English and local language

• Experience in Wind Turbine Industry

• Experience with tooling, lifting devices, or machine design

• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

• Able to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers

• Support a strong team and breed positive morals

• Understands business objectives and drives specific tasks required to meet the objectives

• Encourages input from all members of the team

• Displays good interpersonal skills - is accessible and approachable
