Job Description Summary
As a Combustion Aero Thermal Engineer, you will apply fundamental design principles to ensure robust Gas Turbine combustion operability and bring reliable power to the people with lower emissions. In this role you will execute new combustion development and Service projects, apply creativity to solve the problem and deliver the results on time in collaboration with team.
You will interact with world’s best minds to advance cutting edge combustion technology and produce cleaner energy.
Roles and Responsibilities
Applying combustion/ gas turbine fundamentals, design & develop gas turbine combustion system with low emissions and wide operation window.
Conduct combustion aero design calculation, predictive combustion dynamics, emissions, and combustion performance modeling using 1D/3D commercial and proprietary tools.
Demonstrate mindset of ownership and accountability to achieve goals.
Plan and perform combustion laboratory / engine tests and collect relevant data with support from team members
Perform pre and post combustion laboratory / engine test data analysis to find valuable insights which can be used to draw key conclusions. Suggest and execute ideas to improve the combustion system design.
Work effectively within cross-functional – Mechanical, Controls, Accessories, and product service team for project execution.
Execute new Combustion system design and resolve fleet issues using sound engineering principles and adhering to the business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.
Take an active role in the continuous improvement of processes and data analysis techniques.
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments.
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
M.E / M Tech/ PhD in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering with specialization in combustion & thermodynamics engineering.
1-4 years experience in combustion thermo-acoustic, aero design and heat transfer calculations.
Strong interpersonal, leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment with a positive “can do” attitude.
Thorough knowledge of combustion design fundamentals.
Experience in experimental/theoretical combustion dynamics.
Experience in combustion reacting/non reacting flow CFD calculations using commercial tools.
Experience in running small scale rig, component tests.
Experience using pressure, emissions sensors, optical diagnostics etc. would be of added value.
Understanding of python programing and data analytics technique.
Experience with 1D thermo fluid system simulation.
Understanding of GE Power product line and its combustion system.
Self-starter and ability to handle multiple projects.
