Job Description Summary
Come be a part of GE's Digital Industrial revolution! Renewable EDGE Control team develops controls systems software & apps that allows wind turbines & hybrid energy systems to reliably convert maximum energy into clean electricity. In this role, you will design new controls apps & analytics for various wind turbines & energy systems. This role is the perfect opportunity to develop first-hand knowledge of renewable energy systems, controls, analytics & apps, as well as systems-level thinking.
Perform requirements engineering for new apps and analytics, including analysis, quantification and documentation of requirements and design trade offs for wind turbine / wind-farm level / hybrid energy systems Predix / EDGE OS / Azure IOT EDGE / other industry standard EDGE OS based analytics / optimization algorithms.
Design analytics / optimization algorithm in Matlab / Simulink environment and generate field deploy able HW specific C / C++ / Python code, as well as consolidate test case for functional and system level testing.
Verify & validate implementation of new apps/algorithms by executing test cases either via simulation or remote testing on actual customer turbines.
Deploy and follow established process to containerize algorithm as an app and deploy in an actual wind farm in the Predix / EDGE OS / Azure IOT EDGE / Other industry standard EDGE OS environment and verify the algorithm performance.
Execute routine analyses using vested methods and technologies and/or contributes to technological developments in teams under supervision
Contribute to product configuration management, sustaining and customer support
Support product development program design review discussions and present relevant design details to chief engineers for evaluation and approval
Collaborate with other Engineering and Global Research Center teams on new energy system control technology and lead design implementation efforts
The candidate may be called to travel up to 10% of the time to support product validation, product and customer discussions
Master / Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Controls / Mechatronics Engineering with Renewable Energy Emphasis preferred
2-4 years experience relevant to wind turbine systems, service, Predix App development or Control system design
Experience with Matlab Simulink, C / C++ , Python, Predix, Edge OS, Azure IOT EDGE,
Hands on experience in building Machine Learning and ANN algorithms
Hands on experience in validation of wind turbine simulation data in comparison to measurement data.
Demonstrated success in a global team environment, effective communication skills and self-starter, who delivers results with minimal supervision
