Job Description Summary

Own structure design for NPI blade and develop design solutions that are competitive in performance, cost and quality

Partner closely with Product Mgmt team to deliver on structure design activities within stringent timeline from predesign phase to Production & certification.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Structural Engineer to contribute to Blade design. In the NPI design cycle interact with Customers +SD+ FEA+ Detailed design +Process Engg +Production team while designing blade from end-to-end

  • Production support at plants during the startup phase. Responsible for quick addressal of issues related to any product deviations in productions, lifting & handling operations blades.

  • Coordinate with project team on design iterations to ensure all certification and internal design criterions are met for the final structure.

  • Blade test simulations to validate against design.

  • Support in Blade production Startup/Ramp-ups.

  • Quick decisions towards any product deviations in production, RCA's.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters level in Mechanical/Applied Mechanics or related Engineering Field.

  • 5+ yrs Experience in Structural Analysis

  • Knowledge of Composite Mechanics & FEM

  • Good understanding of Solid Mechanics /Strength of Materials.

  • Application of FEM tools in WT Blade design or any Industrial structures.

  • Proficient in structural finite element analysis using ABAQUS/ANSYS and Patran with focus on results interpretation and efficient design changes to achieve desired outcome.

  • Good Communication Skills, Report writing and presenting results to Chiefs & relevant stake holders.

  • Global experience with proven ability to work with international and/or cross-functional teams across cultural boundaries

  • Fluent in English, Verbal & Written.

Desired Characteristics

  • Sound fundamentals in Wind Turbine Blade design

  • Strong Analytical calculations based on Strength of Materials and validating with FEM tools.

  • Advanced structural concepts Fracture Mechanics & Applications to Laminated Composite Materials.

  • Exposure of wind turbine rotor blade full scale test and coupon/sub-article tests

  • Proactive, Self-motivated Team Player with Focused on deliverables and attention to details.
