Job Description Summary
Do you have technical expertise with polymers and thermoset plastic materials used for making wind turbine rotor blades and components, do you have experience with running projects related to materials technology development and characterization, are you ready to work in a cross functional team to support our technology growth and ambitious journey taking materials technology to the next level, then you might be our new Advanced Engineer responsible for liquid materials.
As an Advanced Engineer, Liquids you will be part of the Materials Engineering department at LM Wind Power. The department is part of the LM Engineering & Technology organization. Your role will focus on
Work in a cross functional team on material related projects as per various internal customer needs within the specified timelines.
Successfully execute Liquid material qualifications as per the LM established procedures and ensure that the product quality is complying with LM standards.
Collaborate with external suppliers to improve, develop, and optimize the products to meet LM requirements and process.
Define and execute material testing and characterizations as well as turbine blade level low or high-volume manufacturing trials to enable successful material roll-out in LM factories.
Evaluate and interpret the outcome in a very detail manner to make proper judgement during the qualification and implementation phase.
Handle nonconformance related to liquid materials by providing technical guidance to various LM factories in a time-bound manner to mitigate production stoppage risk
Support root cause analysis and expedite problem solving in collaboration with the LM factories and suppliers during material related failures.
Comply with LM systems and process. Responsible for various material and testing related documentation package creation and updates.
Coordinate and organize project tasks with cross-functional teams. Proactively communicate progress in relevant forums.
Should have educational background within Polymer or Plastic Engineering or equivalent at MTech / PhD level
Minimum 4 years of experience in the field of resins, adhesives, coatings with good understanding about various thermoset materials such as unsaturated polyesters, vinyl esters, epoxies, polyurethanes, and its applicability in wind turbine blades.
Working knowledge of various composite manufacturing processes
Hands on experience in thermoset synthesis, processing & testing.
You have spent considerable time in research or a production environment in thermoset materials or wind blade manufacturing industries.
Expertise in various liquid and composite material testings and characterizations such as pot life, reactivity, viscosity, tensile, fatigue, DSC, SEM, TGA, DMA etc.
Knowledge about principles of APQP for wind.
You are self-motivated and resourceful, have great experience and craftmanship and manage to take a proactive approach in driving tasks cross functional in the organization
You are robust and have personal drive and are process oriented with excellent problem-solving skills. You have an excellent understanding of quality assurance methodology during development and execution.
You have excellent communications skills, and you can communicate your results in a clear and convincing manner.
Your approach to the work is structured and well organized. You have strong drive and are good at moving things forward and getting things done
You are proactive in finding solutions and can take decisions without external guidance.
