General Electric Sourcing Specialist - New Product Sourcing (MR) in Beijing, China

Job Description Summary

The Sourcing Specialist – New Product Sourcing for MR (Magnetic Resonance) is responsible for conducting all sourcing activities as related to assigned New Product Introduction projects. The role is the key interface between MR engineering, category sourcing, and supplier management to ensure supplier base strategies as well as engineering and business needs are met.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Select strategic suppliers for any New Product Introduction and get suppliers ready to deliver targeted business requirements (quality, fulfillment, cost and cash) per the program milestones, in partnership with the supplier management, supply chain and engineering teams.

  • Key partner to engineering and the cross-functional team driving sourcing initiatives early in NPI process to ensure excellence in supplier selection to establish an optimal supply chain focused on preferred suppliers with a strategy to achieve new product cost targets.

  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure technology match occurs between supply partners and engineering & manufacturing to ensure capable product and factory fulfillment requirements are met. Critically participate in Technical Design Reviews and ensure supplier expertise and innovation are considered in component design and specifications.

  • De-risk supplier base proactively for new product releases, from identifying the risk to executing the mitigation plan, in partnership with the MR business team.

Quality Specific Goals:

  • Aware of and comply with the GE Healthcare Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.

  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.

  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required Knowledge and understanding of GE Healthcare Purchasing Controls Procedure and associated Work Instructions and operates within them to ensure that all purchased product and services conform to specified requirements.

  • Develop and maintaining of fully qualified and compliant supply base.

Required Qualifications

  • This role requires basic experience in the Sourcing & New Product Sourcing. Knowledge level is comparable to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college ( or a high school diploma with relevant experience).

  • Bachelor's Degree (or comparable) from an accredited university or college in Procurement or Supply Chain Management and experience in engineering role. OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and experience in a commercial sourcing experience.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

  • Effective communication (written and verbal) in both Chinese and English.

  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional or geographically dispersed teams.

  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of time.

Desired Characteristics

  • Working experience with development and production with Medical Devices.

  • Excellent program/project management experience with the ability to develop and execute on program plans.

  • Effective problem solving ability (cross-functionally and globally).

  • Tenacious, strong negotiator, good communicator at all levels and across different cultures.

  • Great stakeholder management - able to understand internal customers’ needs and CTQ's and deliver them from the supplier base

  • Certified Green Belt.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
