Job Description Summary

This individual will work closely with assigned Sourcing Managers and product segments as the local owner for component vitality across assigned commodity(s). These responsibilities include the execution of strategies to ensure realization of the business objectives for assigned commodity within the purchase family, which includes the Cost of Bill of Materials, Target Costing and Vitality activities.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead programs with product Sourcing / Engineering for cost reduction ideas & drive productivity, support redesign electronic circuits in order to reduce the product cost.

  • Work closely with modality engineering teams to drive the adoption of new component technology for Installed Base (IB) products as well as New Product Introduction Programs (NPIs).

  • Develop strategy for introduction of new components technology to avoid life cycle risk. Review and interpret all component data sheets and evaluate all components for various product applications.

  • Leading sourcing execution for assigned commodity(s) or suppliers, including full accountability for buy and meeting deflation targets.

  • Performing detailed cost analysis of components & manufacturing processes used by our suppliers to ensure highest quality at the lowest cost solution.

  • Partnering with key local business stakeholders to ensure sourced material and services meet the needs of the business.

  • Good understanding on electrical / electronic components, applications & types. Need to manage component engineering activities independently

  • Analyze and develop solutions to resolve all component lifecycle issues and assist product teams to identify appropriate resources and substitutes for components.

  • Provide support to all designers to perform component research and participate in component life cycle selection process and evaluate all components.

  • Suggestion of Form Fit Functional / Functional alternates for risk / sole source components.

  • Coordinate with engineering staff to evaluate and resolve all life cycle / supply chain issues for various products and document all procedures according to company standards.

  • An individual contributor, with proven interpersonal skills. Communication with direct colleagues and the business about design and coordination services rendered.

  • Utilizes technical expertise and judgement to solve problems. Leverages technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems.

Specific to Direct Sourcing responsibilities:

  • Driving sourcing strategic initiatives to ensure optimal cost productivity, fulfillment, and obsolescence/life-cycle management by leveraging standardization and latest industry practices.

  • Building deep relationships with Strategic Suppliers Relationships driving early supplier engagement into GE’s New Product Introduction (NPI) process, and long-term partnership for wing-to-wing product lifecycle.

  • Specific to Indirect Sourcing responsibilities:

  • Driving business productivity metrics affected by indirect sourcing, ensuring accuracy, identifying new areas of opportunity to drive cost out, implement operating efficiency or improve productivity, including leading bullet trains within the P&L.

  • Affecting improvement in sourcing processes through digitization and simplification including management / employee communication, policy recommendations or management dashboards for individual spend controls.

Quality Specific Goals:

  • Aware of and comply with the GE Healthcare Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position​

  • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines

  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required

  • Knowledge and understanding of GE Healthcare Purchasing Controls Procedure and associated Work Instructions and operates within them to ensure that all purchased product and services conform to specified requirements.

  • Develop and maintaining of fully qualified and compliant supply base.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics Engineering with 9+ years work experience in sourcing or procurement or engineering.

  • 9+ years work experience with technical depth/knowledge in assigned commodities and 3+ years of Commercial Sourcing, Supply Chain or Engineering experience

  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of time

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering highly preferred

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in product development or component engineering in electronics industry.

  • Understanding of Electronic Component Lifecycle trends and their impact on product cost.

  • Excellent negotiations skills and analytical skills with the ability to manage and develop supplier relationships

  • Excellent communication skills and analytical skills with the ability to manage and develop supplier relationships

  • Proven ability to execute and deliver on commitments

  • Experience implementing a compliant supply chain

  • Greenbelt certification preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
